What a joy being blown off the field at home by a private school that has 6600 undergrads. The school is also known overwhelmingly for basketball. Of course, they metaphorically dunked on us all game, so I guess it sort of figures.

Many coaches and programs are made to look good because they have a really good QB. McCord and Angeli hid a few flaws over the past two years.

Can't say I was impressed by Nixon's gameplan. While we are on the subject, do we even have a running play to the outside in playbook? I know it wouldn't have mattered but just wondering.

It is scary to consider that the staff might feel that Rickie is by far the best backup we have. I guess we will get clarification on that going forward via their actions. Things may/probably will get pretty grim.

As for the D, for the past two years, with maybe one exception, we have been put in the situation where our offense has to overcome the scoring that our D gives up. Given that I don't see that changing from the standpoint of defensive improvement, I can't say I have any optimism that the offense can continue that.

If nothing changes defensively...and I can't see it happening...what part of "A" in DART would allow ERob to keep his job? Other than being Fran's buddy, I mean? And when I last checked, BFB (Being Fran's Buddy) isn't part of the acronym of DART. So, either DART means something, or it doesn't.

A presumed winnable game, at home, sellout crowd, and we were completely humiliated.

To make it worse, I went with every shirt on my roster and no dice. I think I wrenched my shoulder changing them every 2 minutes. I figured I had washed all the luck out of them, but sometimes the situation is so dire that it cannot be overcome by a lucky shirt. That is too depressing to even think about but that's what it has come down to.

Good news!

We do have a running play to the outside, sometimes we run a sweep to a WR.

For me, this shows what great QB's have - the team in their hand. McCord and Angeli both had an absolutely great mindset of keeping and retaining the best out of the teams they had and they could throw the ball with much more accuracy and placement than what we saw today. Same team last week taught Clemson a lesson - a shame about Angeli he was about to define our season positively.

DART is just a marketing slogan. It really is.
Either that or something from a motivational speaker. It’s fine as far as it goes but all coaches, and in most sports, preach discipline, toughness, being relentless, etc. I’m not knocking it but at the end of the day it’s general life stuff that most athletes do, put into acronym form.

Disagree. They genuinely carry it through in the program from a cultural perspective. I was skeptical too but having seen elements up close,it’s real. They extend it in a lot of ways. It’s very similar to what good leaders in the military do.

Don’t get me wrong. Fran is great at marketing. And this is an example. But he does so much more behind the scenes from a leadership and culture building perspective that’s quite insane. It’s so much more than we’ve had in recent history. And that stuff matters.

Precisely. I like Fran a lot and he’s incredibly media savvy. That’s exactly what “DART” is tailored for.

Some folks here think DART is some unique thing but, like you said, it’s just a marketable acronym for things that most every coach preaches.

Do you think marketing is a bad concept in 2025 college football? My god. It’s EVERYTHING. FFS it may be more important than X’s and O’s lol. Slogan worked pretty well to get us to 13-4. Not pointed at you but lord have mercy. We laid an egg. On to the next IMO
Bingo. Well said. Got our butts kicked in. I was worried about this happening but thought they’d rally around Rickie. It looks like the opposite happened which is most concerning.

Fran and Nixon won’t run with Collins forever if they don’t think they can win with him. They need to adjust the playbook for him. Can’t expect to win the same way as Steve. I saw glimpses of the talent today that they see. But he seemed to be playing too conservative at times and ended up making more mistakes. I saw a kid afraid to make a mistake and it showed.

Really curious what they see on tape and how they evaluate him. We all see how annoyed Fran gets. Nixon is more intense and demanding than Fran. I’ve seen it up close. I can’t imagine he was pleased today.

I’m glad to hear that. I’m curious to know what Fran does that other coaches don’t do. And I don’t mean Dino, because I think he was abjectly terribly from 2019 onward.
Lol.

Yea but that’s how any company markets stuff. Tons of companies have cultural slogans. And preach about it to employees. It’s no different. I’ve seen it in thousands of companies.

Many, may professors at SU gush over Fran because of what he preaches on the academic side.

Nothing was evident today though.

That’s great. I’m glad we have a coach who cares about academics. Not a typical thing for SU revenue sports.

I think it's more than just being afraid to make a mistake. He was simply overwhelmed. Throwing high to open guys, throwing into coverage, holding the ball and taking a sack on 2nd and goal from the 4 instead of sending it through the back of the endzone, flat out dropping the ball. The game is too fast for him right now. Will it slow down? Maybe. For some guys it never does.

Okay I will probably get blasted for this but I just don’t understand the take that the offense needs to be tailored for Collins? He and Angeli supposedly went through this tight competition in summer camp in the same offense. Pretty sure they don’t have separate play books for each quarterback. By now I would say this staff knows what plays Collins can successfully execute. All I needed to know was that a guy, Angeli who got here in June was able beat out a guy who has been here since January and went through Spring Football in this offense. When Collins was named the starter after Spring Football it was based on him being better than Williams who may or may not have been surpassed by true freshman Carney and Johnson who is not a passer. They went after Angeli for a reason and 42,000 people saw why yesterday. I sure hope I am wrong but I don’t think so. Go Orange!!!!!

Angelli had more experience from the start. Collins now has more. He may better game 2. Then we have a bye and then we see where we are at

As bad as it was without the fumbles and the one drive fg we probably moved it enough to score 14-17 pts in a pretty lousy effort. Lets turn that into 20+

Now with a full game effort maybe after film review Collins makes 25% less mistakes. Thats what we need to see.

But the oline was not good. That means quick throws and the coaches need to understand did he make the wrong reads or just not come off them fast enough,. For all we know Angelli was making 1 read throws a lot too. Thats fine if they are correct and the player is open.

He wasnt too loose with the ball which is a good thing, He got away from a few tackles but made poor decisions after that. It will get better unless his ceiling is really low
