Coverage Was Disappointing ?

Coaching isn't easy.
Red didn't blow up in any press conferences.
The team didn't make national headlines for doing anything stupid.

I hope that’s not the Orange standard now.

Could it be that he was commenting related to there being little to no mention at all that Donnie Freeman , the 2nd leading scorer was out for the season during any broadcasts? I heard about other team’s players during games who were missing because of injury. Same with Moore. There also was little preseason nor in season coverage of our new players whether freshman or transfer players. I don’t recall those “get to know” them articles, videos we used to see until the portal player transfer articles just in the past week to 10 days. It used to be a hot topic every preseason - getting to actually know our new players.

It’s disappointing that at all places, Syracuse, where we pride ourselves on the communications school, that we have any leaders in our athletic programs that take a closed off approach to media. Anyone have anything to suggest on reasons why we’re taking a limited availability approach?

Watching college basketball today, I feel deflated.

My entire life, this has been the most fun sports timeframe of the year for me. But this year, I can't believe our season is already over.

Can't wait until we're playing meaningful basketball again.

No. He was tired after a long day and a longer season and he isn't exactly great at those things anyway. Why we don't use Newhouse to work with these guys, I will never understand.

Is he? There wasn’t a ton of player development when JB was checked out and he was running practice. Buddy and Jesse are big exceptions to that, But JB’s in game coaching may have masked the lack of development over Red-run practices.

And Buddy was mentored by GMAC.

Watching other teams all week, especially the past two days, with shotmakers, athleticism, defensive intensity and good coaching just has me so jealous. Knowing we won’t be close to that anytime soon hurts even more.

Red ought to watch what taking accountability looks like. Not that he needs to go this far (obviously) but showing a little bit of responsibility for what happened this year and why fans should be optimistic for the future isn't asking much. It's part of the damn job.

Crap. All he has to do is look at Gerry’s interview after the season ending loss for Siena.
Took full responsibility for the season ending loss and not going farther in the tournament , praised his players and said exactly what he had to do to improve the team.
It isn’t rocket science. What Gerry did is what any competent coach does.

It is now Sunday and Red hasn’t said a single thing to connect with the fanbase and explain his plan to improve the team next year. Not a bloody thing.

Maybe he's negotiating an extension! [I'm obviously not serious, at least I hope not.] BUT, on the other hand, he could think that unless he gets an additional vote of confidence that he'll be around past next year, he will be viewed as a lame duck and won't be able to effectively recruit out of the portal. Which may be true. IF, he is, let's cut our loses now and give him a settlement to resign.
