Critique My Streaming Choices for Game Access

I live in Fla so when a game is on ACCNX I just go to ESPN+ on my laptop and pick up ACCNX than I plug my laptop into my 75 inch Samsun TV and watch the game. Works Fine. I have Dish Network so they carry ACC Network and all the other sports cannels for the other games.
Yeah it's one of those weird things where I don't actually have access through YouTubeTV to ESPN+, but through the app I can watch the ACCNX games (and sometimes some other stuff). Sometimes when I click on the Syracuse game it'll give me an option to watch it via ESPN+ or ACCNX. If I pick ESPN+, it wants me to subscribe, and when I pick ACCNX it takes me to the login credentials page and then shows me the game once my YouTubeTV connection is verified.

Hulu live would allow you to have all as if you do the disney plus, hulu and espn plus bundle in addition to hulu live (69.99 total)
Plus I think UNLV is on CBSSN or FS1 which is carried by Hulu live, I cut the cord about 10mos ago and that is why I went with Hulu, been happy

this is also my experience

Yep, that's it.

Edit - actually, I don't think it's ESPN+ you access, exactly. But there will be games you can access via the app and your YouTubeTV credentials.
If you paid for ESPN+ you can access it that way. However you can go in through your ESPN app and access through ACCX without paying for ESPN+.

On the opened ESPN app: Scroll down to the Atlantic Coast Conference and find the Holy Cross game in there (if you don't pay for ESPN+). Occasionally you need to reauthenicate through Google to continue to watch.

There is an SU women's soccer game tomorrow on ACCX you can practice getting a game on.

The nice thing is the games are on demand

I just checked
It had me reauthenicate
I went to www.espn.com/activate on my phone

I had to I enter a 6 alphanumeric code displayed on my TV, click on YouTubeTV as my carrier on your phone. Then clicked on a Google prompt...a few secs later you are in for both phone and TV

one thing to remember Disney is starting the crackdown on pwd sharing as well. DIsney+ starts in a few weeks. hulu/Espn/ESPN+ are rumored to follow.

I get Hulu Live during football season and downgrade it for the rest of the year. Bundles with Disney+ and ESPN+ with or without Live TV

This, or if you have the technology just cast from your phone right to a Google TV or Google streaming stick.

If your Samsung TV is new enough you can use the ESPN app directly on the TV.

Every year I forget this. There’s games I can’t watch live during the season because of my daughter’s soccer.

The ones that are on ESPN+/ACCX, if I miss the start of the game, I need to wait for the replay to watch the whole game…..? I can’t start a game that’s been on for an hour and start it from the beginning….? Trying to remember if it was still like that last year. Also if I miss an entire game how long after the game is over does the replay show up, I feel like it was an hour or so….?

My experience is you have to wait until the game is over and watch the replay. ESPN really needs to upgrade their streaming technology.

you can start from the beginning though its not an obvious selection to get there.

Really? I've never had that issue.

I know it won’t give the option to start live, like watching sports on YTTV. I think I remember now, if you catch the game somewhat early on you can cover your eyes, hope not to see the score and rewind to the beginning. But if you catch the game too late, you can still rewind but it won’t go all the way to the beginning.

on the web site its easy .

Dont click the play button, click the 3 dots and then click start from beginning.

In the app using the roku remote

find the game, then press the star button and it will ask live or from the beginning.

Didn’t even think of using those buttons to check options. That helps a lot, thanks.

Wow thank you. I will have to check that out. Will be very useful info, particularly for my dad.

Nexstar Media Group has announced five new affiliates for its CW Network, and all of them are owned by the company.

On Thursday, Nexstar said its stations in Augusta, Monroe, Terre Haute, Wichita Falls and Utica will become affiliates of the CW Network between September and October. The stations will carry the CW Network on digital subchannels of its main broadcast feed.

The stations that will become CW Network affiliates are:

  • KARD-DT2 (Channel 14) in Monroe, Louisiana
  • KFDX-DT3 (Channel 3) in Wichita Falls, Texas
  • WFXV-DT2 (Channel 33) in Utica, New York
  • WJBF-DT3 (Channel 6) in Augusta, Georgia
  • WTWO-DT2 (Channel 2) in Terre Haute, Indiana
“The addition of these affiliates will bring the number of Nexstar- and partner-owned CW stations to 54, covering more than 45% of U.S. TV households,” said Andrew Alford, the President of Nexstar’s Broadcasting business. “As The CW’s number one affiliate group, Nexstar is very pleased to be airing the network’s programming on these stations this fall, especially with NASCAR Xfinity series racing and the WWE’s NXT joining a very robust lineup of sports programming, including LIV Golf and ACC college football and basketball, and Pac-12 football. Adding The CW’s programming to these stations will offer advertisers a variety of new linear and digital opportunities to reach millions of viewers.”

Just got an email that YouTube TV is going up $10 to $82.99 per month starting in January 2025

Good thing we got rid of all these cable companies to save money. Especially with the NFL, if you wanted to watch most games you need 50 different apps on top of YTTV or something comparable. Now that there’s games on Amazon, Apple, etc.

Yep even though I made the jump to YTTV, I suspected the celebration to save money by cord-cutting would be short-lived.

I tried to warn everyone years ago.

The killer was that the cable companies didn't invest in greatly improving their user interfaces. Cable box tech and program guide navigation suuuuucks.

Ten years ago they needed to deploy smart boxes that replicated a Netflix-style navigation for on-demand video. And simplify live programming navigation by grouping it into genres (e.g. here's all your sports on right now in a scollable set of windows, just click to watch).

But they didn't, and what we call "pay TV" in the media biz has gone from 88% coverage in 2014 to barely over 50% now.

Meanwhile, most people are paying more than they did in 2014. Great work, everyone!
