I’m not sure how much could be seen on TV, but when he finally came in, he was physical with Burton and at least slowed him down.

That allowed us to chip away and get the lead under 10 at half. Nobody else had been able to keep him out of scoring position.

He’s has a toughness about him that was contagious today. Picking up Burton just over half court and making the passing angles tougher. He didn’t stuff the stat sheet, but he was effective as hell.

He needs consistent minutes.

Agree. He is our only guy that fights through screens. Seems like 50% of the ND offense is running Burton open off screens.

Cuffe knew it is coming and was too quick and athletic for the slow ND players to pick effectively. The crappy refs missed a couple obvious illegal picks earlier in the game and instead called Cuffe.

That was a travesty but at least they made the right call on the last obvious living screen.

If that was what Shrewbeery was mad about, he needs to look at a rule book.

But agree, Cuffe works his butt off and his energy carried over to the rest of the team. Everyone seems to feed on it when he is in.

Its his energy. We have very few players that play with a high effort like Cuffe. Sometimes he misses shots and fouls too much but nobody ever questions his effort and hustle and that is what this team desperately needs. He is super valuable on this team because he provides something few can on this roster.

My favorite player.
And the one person you can count on to make foul shots.
He was an incredible 10 for 10 from the line.
And he is tenacious on D, hard to shake.
And seems to be a real leader and is respected by teammates
Amazing since he barely played earlier this season.

Devo explained it nicely in an interview with, I think, Higgins.

Yes, this team has A LOT of challenges. Talent, injuries, coaching are all factors in the lack of success…but the coaches should not have to be coaching effort at this level. If they are spending time getting guys just to consistently play hard, that takes time away from other coaching.

Hope Cuffe’s energy can rub off on the rest of the guys. Get him out there at the start. We need to figure out these horrendous starts to games.

Obviously different skill sets, but he has the intangibles the way Maliq did last season. He does his job every chance he gets.

Cuffe should take over teaching free throws at practices as well, terrible free throw shooting by the rest of the team! Gonna put me in the loony bin. Got to make those FREE throws, especially this team!

As much as we criticize Coach Griff, I see a lot of his game in Kyle. It’s his toughness and leadership that can lead a team.

Cuffe was great and a definite key but what the hell are you dumping on Carlos for? Him coming in at the point was another key to the turnaround.
Carlos was decent today and did some good things.

Doesn't change that for a chunk of the season he was our worst player yet was playing the most minutes.

Also what the hell are you doing asking me what the hell I'm dumping on Carlos for? In my original post I only commented on how many minutes Carlos was playing, I made no commentary that would be considered dumping on him.

Like, what the hell man?

Cuffe and Carlos got right up into their two guards. Way too passive defensively early. SU was very physical with ND in the final 25 minutes. They didn’t like it at all. Red did a great job causing a switch on ND forcing Shrewsberry to guard JJ. They did it on four straight possessions that JJ scored. Last year ND forced Bell to switch on Burton and he killed us. Great comeback win. For all the fans who say that Red has lost this team, obviously he hasn’t. Hopefully, they found out today they can play defense if they play a lot tougher. They still have to get Lampkin the ball on the blocks earlier in games. Eddie did a good job today.

Other than Brown last year he has always been our best defender.

Careful, you're dangerously close to being arrogant enough to think you know more than Red... and that's the kind of message board banter that has caused the team to crater.

Also, start donating more or shut up.

(Did I do that right Dcuse ?)

Lost all respect for Red with the way he treated Cuffe earlier in the year. It was shameful. He kept that BS up even when JJ was out.

Would’ve he have even gone to Kansas if he got an offer from Syracuse under Boeheim? Maybe too short for the zone idk? 247 shows he attended our school camp, but no offer. He clearly bleeds orange because he transferred to Cuse under Autry after not offering him in HS.

He's finally contributing now he's in a lesser role. Good for him. Earlier in the year he was by far the worst player I've ever seen play for Syracuse that started or played starters minutes. By a wide margin.
