Cuffe changed the game….

I’m not sure how much could be seen on TV, but when he finally came in, he was physical with Burton and at least slowed him down.

That allowed us to chip away and get the lead under 10 at half. Nobody else had been able to keep him out of scoring position.

He’s has a toughness about him that was contagious today. Picking up Burton just over half court and making the passing angles tougher. He didn’t stuff the stat sheet, but he was effective as hell.

He needs consistent minutes.
Burton had 20 points in the first 12 minutes and only eight after that. I thought I was going to have nightmares if I heard "Burton for 2" or "Burton for 3" one more time. It was like our defenders were afraid to get in his face.

Fortunately, Cuffe and company figured it out to get it under ten at halftime and thank god for any adjustments that Red made at halftime that our guys finally played like a team.

Damn really talk myself into that this guy is only going to get better. That’s a big deal for this program.

Careful, you're dangerously close to being arrogant enough to think you know more than Red... and that's the kind of message board banter that has caused the team to crater.

Also, start donating more or shut up.

(Did I do that right Dcuse ?)
Mostly I was excited to say what the hell a bunch.

Also what the hell are you doing asking me what the hell I'm dumping on Carlos for? In my original post I only commented on how many minutes Carlos was playing, I made no commentary that would be considered dumping on him.

Like, what the hell man?
Yeah hell damn fart

Would’ve he have even gone to Kansas if he got an offer from Syracuse under Boeheim? Maybe too short for the zone idk? 247 shows he attended our school camp, but no offer. He clearly bleeds orange because he transferred to Cuse under Autry after not offering him in HS.
Boeheim’s fault again

One more thing about Cuffe... HE HIT 10 FOR 10 FROM THE FT LINE WHEN EVERYONE ELSE SUCKED BUTT FROM THE LINE. We did everything we could do to lose this game by missing free throws. It was sooooo painful to watch. As a team, we were 62% and that is with Cuffe's 10/10. That's insane.

I've been on the Cuffe train all season, PLEADING for more minutes. He's far from great, but with the team we have, he should be on the court a LOT.
SAME!! I've said from this team for next year only players I'd like back were Cuffe , Freeman and Peter.. I took some flack for saying cuffe.. like I said before Bill Self liked the kid enough to give him a scholarship .

Lost all respect for Red with the way he treated Cuffe earlier in the year. It was shameful. He kept that BS up even when JJ was out.
It took me witnessing 1 practice Nov 1st to see that Cuffe would be a huge part of whatever success this team has. I made it pretty well known around here.
I just don't understand Coach.

I heard secondhand that he was very disappointed not get interest from Syracuse when he was in high school.

As much as we criticize Coach Griff, I see a lot of his game in Kyle. It’s his toughness and leadership that can lead a team.

Here is a cool story. I was blessed to sit courtside yesterday.

Under 2 min (I forget which exact possession this was, we did it 2-3 straight times) when we were killing clock and letting JJ go 1x1 from right ish wing, cuffe comes to left wing directly in front of me. He starts clapping and yells “go be a killer JJ”

But it was so genuine. It was so cool to hear. You could feel the leadership. (especially after the Bell meltdown temper tantrum coincidentally directed at cuffe 20 min before)

It’s hard to see how it’s not addition by subtraction with Chris at this point. He’s the only one of the malcontents from last year still here. Clearly it wasn’t the other guys having a bad impact on him.

Could the meltdown be seen on TV or did they talk about it? He was immediately benched and never saw the court again. Honestly I would not be surprised if that was the last court time he ever sees here.

But, but JB said that was one of his best recruiting classes ever.

Cuffe's defense and perfect free throws made an enormous difference in getting a W.
He brought up the entire team's energy as well, which was awesome to see.

First time in a long time when I felt we were really playing Cuse level defense.

If there was ever a situation of "Earning It", it's Cuffe's situation. Just impressed with his perseverance and character.

If you read his high school write up, he was known as an incredibly strong and athletic defender, He was also a great slasher with a great ability to finish at the rim.
Better in a transition game, than in the half court.
He actually reminds me a lot of Stevie Thompson.
