Culpepper

Rewatching the last five minutes of the game.
I’m not confident that he’d get significantly better results than TD but I think it’s time to end the mindset that TD has earned QB1

DeVito won’t change.
This is year 3.
He doesn’t have composure and it’s because the OL has given him no time in the past but he has shown no improvement from the 2018 ND game to today no improvement.

That can’t happen.
We need to give the other options a chance to earn PT.

I disagree. He showed much better running ability today as well as standing in the pocket more.

I’m sorry... I should probably be more patient this season with all of the variables.

TD’s arm talent is undeniable, and when he’s in rhythm he can hit, it just has not happened consistently enough.

But in Rex’s series, coming in cold, he spread the ball around the field and showed better awareness. Even if he’s not as accurate, there’s at least chances.

As a coach I’d at least be willing to explore that. I mean, what do we have to lose?
Been saying this for over a year. Not trying to crush the kid b/c he has talent. But I have serious doubts. We looked better with Welch last year w/o question. If they want to give Tommy a little more rope I’m fine with it but A full (even abbreviated) slate of games of this would be dreadful.

Amie hasn’t shown anything yet elsewhere, but I suppose maybe if he stayed. I think he was more mobile and that’s what we need right now.
Sounds like a headcase, but, reportedly, coaches were high on him.

I don't want to draw conclusions based on one game, but I think we're going to find that the things that needed to improve are things that are innate and not taught. I don't care about 40 times or time spent watching film. That can't always make up for natural feel or instinct. Some guys have it and others don't. It's probably why some guys look like superstars playing for a factory with all of the perfect pieces around them and then flame out in the pros.

I like Taj but they force the ball to him too much. It forces devito to look elsewhere which doesn’t really work that well

That's the question. Do THEY force to him too much or does TD just lock in.
I think it’s both. I think Dino wants him to be the focal point of the WR as evidence by his number but I also think devito thinks he can throw him open and let’s it rip a bit oo much

I'd lean more toward that being on TD then. In the first couple years of the offense with ED the ball was spread around a little more.

Ehh, we have always had that 1 lead WR with otjer peripherals. This is no different

Who was it up against, and that INT was indicative of why not.

Yeah, can’t confirm, but it certainly looks like if he has to move off his primary read it’s not good.
I'm not sure he has consistently gotten the offense in the right play at the LOS. That was on of Eric's strengths.

I’d rather have a chance than none. If TD gives us more of the same, I wouldn’t hesitate to mix it up, not for a second.

Doesn’t matter who it was up against, he was throwing to spots we need to throw to for the offense to work. As far as the INT, he was behind on the Post, it happens.

Not so. Babers first two years Philips was the second leading reciever with 90 and 89 catches. We had a legitimate 1-2 punch with other productive guys. Estime and Ishmael had 48 catches each in 2016. In 2018 we didn't have one stud like those first two years but had 4 guys with between 40 and 64 catches. Last year was the most imbalanced with Jackson getting 66 and the next two getting 36 and 37. Harris actually had fewer catches in 2019 despite him being the 4th in catches in 2018 and 2nd in 2019.

It seemed the same thing happened last year when Welch came in.

Idk what you were smoking but I didn’t get excited when Welch came on

Who said anything about being excited?
My bad. I took the posts to mean you were excited in what the offense could do when Welch came in

Daunte Culpepper in his prime would have us at 8-3ish. That I’m convinced of.

Ali Culpepper, however, wouldn’t make much more of an impact than Rex.
