If Devito leaving "frees up" Schrader mentally to let some throws rip.

It could take away what was once a distraction, but by now it was already Shrader’s team. I don’t think it will make a difference. I just hope our WR start making some separations on their routes, and stop dropping passes. Because GS gets blamed for it.

Now that TD is gone, Shrader not worried at all about being benched so he is safe to grip it and rip it?

Yeah I don’t think the OP is saying TD is necessarily to blame…

What he’s trying to say is that the mental distraction of “if I don’t make the perfect throw, Coach is going to bring in #13”

I do think it’ll help with Shraders confidence. He is the clear number 1 now and this is his team.

might see him take a larger leader role now that he knows he’s not stepping on any toes

In general if Shrader can improve his passing by line 25% that will do wonders for the offense. So many of those 10-15 yard throws are a bit off. Cuse connects on those then the team is cooking.

he is completing 66% of his passes from 0-10 yards, 50% on 10-20 yards and 17% over 20 yards.

Out of curiosity, what was TD's completion percentage over 20 yards?

Do not think GS was looking over his shoulder. However I wonder what impact it had on other players interaction with GS not wanting to feel disloyal to TD. Not saying it affected their play just the internal conflict between supporting the two in the locker room.

Probably not. But I could see it POSSIBLY have an unconscious influence on one or two of the WRs to work harder.

his problem on most of the longer throws is waiting too long and not getting set. The couple times he was actually throwing those balls and ready to throw he was fairly accurate.. he has had several where he is waiting for the guy to be open and then holds it.. he needs a bit more trust on those throws especially when they are to guys where the safety cant really help. but when its been a late read he has been off balance and the throws have not had much on it..

Much different on his slants where he knows where he is gonna go early..

There's no doubt these things play a part in the locker room and with team chemistry (and that includes the Harris' and Howard's to.)

Love to see them near devitos #'s with Garrets legs. TD was 67% 1-10, 75% 10-20, 29% 20 plus.

(Although, 2020 he wS 71%, 40%, 12%, 2019 77%, 46%, 29%)

I haven't had the impression that Shrader is a look-over-his-shoulder kind of guy. If anything changes, it's because he's getting familiar with more of the offense and his WRs.

I meant like the eye test. Not actual percentage. It's hard to describe but just a small jump in improvement I think will be massive.

So actually not that different than TD’s ‘19 and ‘20 seasons, except about 10% better over 20 yards.

sorry, just got back home. See random guy’s post above.

TD gets blamed for many things on this board but this is something else.
If guys are afraid of being pulled for doing something poorly, when that thing is the next guy’s specialty, it can impact their psyche. I read it all the time in the basketball board, where kids are afraid to make mistakes.

10-20 is GS's major issue right now...a number of those 10-20 can easily turn into 20+ with YAC and that just further impacts his 20+ statistics. Hopefully he puts in heavy work on his short passing game over the bye week.
