Cuse National Champions

You got the dramatic part correct. I do accept it, but I will also defend my opinion, and my right to have one.
And others have the "right" to think its crap.

If anything, the XC & FH championships should stimulate the other teams... "Why not us?"

It's worth adding -- while people gripe about the idea that Scott Shafer or a new coach could be put through the indignity of playing 12 road games during a Dome construction season -- that fully half the kids on this cross country team were successfully recruited by a program with no outdoor track. Not a competition facility, but a track of any kind. And every guy on the team committed to come here despite a lack of an indoor track (an excellent negative recruiting tool for ACC coaches).

Consecutive appearances at nationals and a championship make recruiting a little easier, of course, but it's worth noting the difficult job these coaches have done in building a program from nothing with no facilities (again, not inadequate facilities, but no facilities).

Hopefully Coyle rectifies the indoor track situation soon.

Thanks for turning a feel good thread into yet another sh!tstorm about the football program. And sorry you feel inadequate about your post count, but you have time to work on that.

It does kind of seem like we can't have nice things on the board sometimes :)

Champs in field hockey and cross country! Great to see.

As for the gridiron, I'm sure Mark Coyle would have been happy if the team had been a success this year. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. As a new AD he must have felt some pressure to make a change. Coyle applied for the AD job at a P5 school, so I'm also sure that he has a lot of confidence in his ability to find the right guy. He seems prudent and prepared in what he does, and I have confidence that he will hire a good fit. It isn't easy at SU. Gross did amazing work with the olympic sports, but he could never get the football peg placed. For some reason I have confidence that Coyle will cover all the bases. I also think SU is due. It's time for football success at SU. HCSS did many things well, and I think next year SU could go bowling.

Four championships in one year is certainly within the realm of possibility.

If it ain't broke - don't fix it - no facilities for the win!!!
