Dabo firing back at tampering

How does this even work? The kid is sitting in “physics for poets”class texting with Golding. Kid decides he’s leaving for Ole Miss, does he go in and talk to Dabo and let him know? Or did he just leave and text that the buyout check is in the mail from Ole Miss? Crazy. I just listened to Dabo’s run down of the events!
Unbelievable

I do agree that we need to get this under wraps but if the contract had a buyout clause and Ole Miss paid for it well despite it being sleazy not sure what they did wrong? Yes it’s tampering but not enforced, it’s a big joke and the buyout clause is there. This is like taking a new job and a better one comes along on your first day on the new job! Nothing to do with cheating on your wife on the honeymoon.

The other day I was driving home and really had to take a leak. I pulled over to a gas station and to my dismay saw they had a sign with no public restroom. I bought some things and went to go behind the store to relieve myself on the fence behind the gas station because as we have all been there was ready to explode.

There were cameras everywhere tracking me. I said to myself not worth it. There are cameras everywhere now. I watch those web of lies shows on Investigation Discovery,,,they follow those murderers. If you do something wrong in 2026 there is almost always a digital or video footprint.

That is what I do not understand about this Ole Miss story with the tampering. There are text messages, phone calls, etc. Agents, GMSs…If Dabo’s account is accurate text messages saying that they are giving them the benefit of the doubt but will report the violation. How can they have such a blatant disregard for the rules? It is madness.

Another funny story whenever I see Dabo. One time I was watching a Clemson FSU game a few years ago with my wife. She said to me…how can you dedicate so much time and thought to a sport where the coaches are named Dabo and Jimbo :).
She didn’t mention our very own

Yeah, there are no rules, no penalties and no enforcement, so all complaining does is make someone feel better. As I heard on the radio the other day, the Chancellors, ADs and Commissioners chased their $ for years without an equitable share going to the players. So we're still in the overcorrection phase.

What I want to know is, did the kid stay for the full class or just get up and leave.

He was likely in the damn doorway before he finished reading the text

I thought students had to leave their phones in a bin by the door when they came in. 🤣

They'll probably keep doing it until someone is caught and punished. Golding obviously thinks it's worth the risk given the pressure to succeed.

His agent was probably the go between the kid and Golding.
Probably, which means his agent is a dirtbag too. Reading the article on the Athletic, though, makes it sound like Golding texted the player and it paints a really bad picture of Golding, the two-faced agent, and, most surprising, the kid and his family. The player looks really bad here. These are the type of reputation and trust killing actions people will question about him going forward.

The agent is exactly the type of agent that gives agents a bad name.

Kudos to Dabo and his staff for keeping a tight timeline on all the communications and documenting them. This detailed transparency is exactly what was needed to expose the crooked underbelly of the portal.

Seems like prevailing greed, lack of morals and nobody willing to rein it in, is the common theme of everything at the moment.
I wish I could like this 100 times. I want to say so much more, but, one, it will make me more angry, and, two, this isn't the forum for it.

So...how about those NFL Conference Championship matchups!?!?

I thought at least in the beginning it was the kid's agent who alerted Clemson that Golding was contacting the player directly. Maybe I'm wrong. If he did then at some point he realized the player was going to switch so he had to be part of it. At least this one wasn't within the same conference. I wonder what Mr. Sankey thinks about his conference looking so disreputable. And the SEC has made noises of only playing games within their conference so they police their own schools without having to worry what other schools are doing. I guess that won't solve the problem. .

Tampering with enrolled players...

Who woulda thought this might happen, with this dumb / ungovernable system?

Now we have not just boosters, but teams themselves actively poaching players from other teams rosters. Really, it's disgusting.
I’m glad that Fran was vocal about the tampering last cycle. He warned everyone that he wasn’t playing. We may have lost the SC TE, but he didn’t end up back at SC. I’m sure that was Fran’s doing.

Hopefully SU is now checking the language in their contracts.

the agent basically extorted Clemson -- told Dabo if they guaranteed a second year that they would turn in all the evidence on Ole Miss. Clemson took it all, went to the ACC and the SEC. They're just the only ones willing to turn in another school.

Going by the timeline and documented conversations, the player and the agent were open about the communications initially, with the player reiterating to the staff that he wasn’t going anywhere. He moved in, started working out with the team, and started classes. Then he went dark like a day after revealing that Golding contacted him via text asking about his buyout. He stopped returning calls from the Clemson staff, and so did his agent, seemingly in a matter of hours after Golding texted. This is what makes how it all went down that much more unsavory. They acted like they were doing the right thing…until they didn’t. And he pulled a Mensah by reentering the portal at the 11th hour.

Too. Many. Dirtbags.

That was a great article in The Athletic. Golding now looks like a complete sleeze bucket. So much for the feel good run in the playoffs. The veil of the Darkside has been lifted.

Now we will see how Sankey responds. He claimed they were all above this...of course, an FCS coach called them out and he was silent. A little harder to ignore Dabo throwing them all under the bus.

You guys need to know that SU is on top of this. It's a total cesspool and the government needs to step in.
This is great for many reasons, not least of which is Dabo the grumpy old man attaining “hey you kids get off my lawn!” status. Too old to give a hoot any more, love it.

Seems that the only possible deterrent left is the threat of deprivation of life, liberty, and property. Well, the property part, anyway. And liberty to some extent, through sanctions and exclusion from association.

Congress may finally step if if some of these bigger programs start complaining and exposing the problem. Hopefully Dabo is only the first.
Without congress acting there is not much the ncaa can do. Congress is inept but any regulation and rules is better than nothing at this point.
