He's a great hustle player. I appreciate him for effort.
But, i'm still so discouraged by the lack of development. Everything offensively comes from below the shoulders. He's always at risk to be stripped or blocked. It's unreal that a person of his size is so consistently molested for the ball. He often choreographs or over-complicates his moves. And, his one go-to move seems to be a quick spin where he slams his elbow into the defender's kidney, to create space — but he never ends up with any space!
He and Rak haven't progressed more than mere experience would dictate. I mean, damn — wasn't Coleman sitting at a table in high school, choosing between Kentucky and Syracuse caps? Could you imagine him at Kentucky playing like this at this point? He had one play, in the five games in which we've seen him this year, in which he converted because he kept the ball high, and we're applauding him for that as if it were the invention of the scoopless litter box. One play. This is big time college, folks.
I love this guy. He's got the heart. He's got the body. But, it shouldn't take a 'beast' three attempts to convert in the paint. Against Canada, Fordham, and... who?
Someone else needs to coach the bigs.
