I knew that the two QBs were not made available for interviews this week(for obvious cone of silence reasons) but I read on the Nunes site that Tucker was not made available either, I truly hope he is ok(we know he has been playing hurt basically all season, but hopefully things didn't get worse). As far as Alford it is put up or shut up time for him the rest of the season, gotta get a lot more out of him
Well teams were keying on Tucker, OG and Shrader for most of the season up until several quarters ago. They were 95% of the offense. Once they didn't have to key on Shrader at all due to him being limited it made things really difficult for us to move the ball. Hopefully this week CDRW will make them have to account for his mobility as well as some other receivers. I think he will. Coaches just need to tell him to value the football and don't force anything. To CDRW's defense he was playing from behind trying to make a come back. I'm excited to see what happens.Yeah - like TWO catches per game!!
Here's hoping CDRW keeps spreading it around like he did vs ND.
(minus the part of spreading it to the D)
We're a MUCH more dangerous team if there's multiple receiving options the D has to worry about, rather than just keying on OGII and Tucker 100%.
Imagine if we had an actual TE (sorry, OGII) who could also catch passes?
To go along with Gadsden and Tucker?
That would be amazing.
For whatever reason, in the past few years the backup QB is much more willing to spread the ball around and seems to gain more success moving the ball. I think of Devito (when he was the backup), and then the walk-on who started a few games last year (I can't remember his name).I’m optimistic that a CDRW start (which I think we’re all expecting) means more targets/ chances for more receivers.
Not to say he’s “better” than Shrader, I just think he was taking more shots and spreading the ball around more in limited action last week.
I’m calling a 30+ yard Alford TD tomorrow.
