In defense of the members, i do believe there were some insiders who claimed he had been at least interviewed

They will be able to schedule OOC well enough and cake walk that conference. It's like JMU or Liberty but a little more help in the polls which is all that matters for the G5 bid. Probably an easier path than the new PAC.

NO SEC job was open. And because he left Miss ST and then got fired at UF, even with 2 or 3 SEC openings, he might have a hard time. Some ADs would not trust him, and others would see him as unlikely ever again to be the wonder boy he seemed at Miss St.

UNC was the only ACC opening, and rather quickly UNC made certain that Belichick was serious and then began letting most coaches who had expressed interest know that the school had moved on.

If I were Mullen and my choices to get back into coaching were Purdue and UNLV, I'd take UNLV. With Cignetti at IU, Purdue has a very tough row to hoe just to get back to 7 wins back to back. Fail at Purdue, and the coaching career would be burnt toast. At UNLV, Mullen could knock out 9 wins right off the bat. Do that a couple times and more doors are opened.
