Darrell Gill Jr. transferring to Ole Miss

THe thing you are missing is he asked him to stay. They had a meeting just the week before talking about how the next year would go and that Darrell was "his man". At the same time, he was letting those he didn't want to stay, know. He never told Darrell he didn't want him next season. Just the opposite. If Darrell didn't ask for that 2nd meeting to ask a couple of questions, none of this would have happened, and he would still be with the team.
But I also can add, that I was told by several players family members throughout the season that a lot of players had an issue with Fran and he had lost the team early on, even before the Angelli injury. I just let it in one ear and out the other but now see the problem. It isn't even the DART aspect. I just think he is not a "players coach" He doesn't value the players enough or let that be known.
Again, I want Fran to succeed. I think he is the right coach for Syracuse. He just still has a learning curve, and Gill is a portion of that learning curve. My purpose is more to defend Darrell as he is really just s great person. None of this should have happened the way it did, and I am mostly trying to defend the Gills in all of this. Seriously the nicest family, and a lot of you met them as I brought them to our tailgates a couple of times.
Great read thank you for posting it. I as well as many Knew there was a lot of dissension mainly after the SA. injury and Fran lost the team as well as some assistant coaches, I certainly hope these issues have been resolved and more than anything ADJW. and our chancellor KS. are very aware of these problems. We took a big chance hiring Fran year 1 was amazing and year 2 was dismal year 3 hopefully will be much better if not changes should be seriously considered.

I disagree-I don't know why the Gill family would need to make this up. I think Fran has tremendous confidence in his ability to recruit and just replace people, but this will start to get around if he doesn't grow.
No one wants to be bashed on the internets

Maybe someone at the P-S will lob a hit piece about this. If so, one would hope that they'd get in contact with the agent, who would say things on the record, with attribution.
Not a good idea. And any agent will say "no comment".
Let's start to heal and hope lessons were learned, and that new staff will help Fran grow into the best coach. He is still on a learning curve as a head coach, Mistakes are in the past now. Fran wants to succeed and so do all of us.

Fran Brown Jr was talking about how there was someone this year on the team who was supposed to be drafted in the top 3 rounds but he kept screwing off in the locker room and now that player is “cooked”. He never said the players name.

could also be the loss of frans patience on hearing about the $ situation elsewhere.
I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like Gill got offers before the window. We all know that happens and Cuse had a horrible season. What if the other side of the story is Fran caught wind of Gill entertaining offers in season as they stack loss after loss?

That's conjecture on my part. All I'm saying is we just don't know and the kid took the money. All the power in the world to him.

This will be a non issue in a short period of time. We like to blow everything up into some major crisis. Reality is, it will be forgotten in a week or so.

I really wanted to keep Gill, I was advocating that he was our best receiver last year. Wish him the best of luck.

Sounds like Fran needs to turn down his “tough guy” approach a tad. Still like him as a coach, but his antics after a 3 win season aren’t as easy to take. Scrap the acronyms, treat the guys right, and go win games. Period.

I have no issue with Fran taking a hard line on these kids. As long as he is doing it the right way. Look at Daboll talking to Harbaugh. Fran seems like he would do the opposite there.

Well that’s the reality. Every player who comes in that’s worth a damn will have the same conversation. If he doesn’t want to hear about money then he should coach high school
High school players in some states are allowed NIL $$

I would have to guess that Cooked is a double entendre there, all the talent, but his history plus the whole uncle situation makes me think he has some problems, which might not be solely his fault.

Really bad look for Jr… can’t be talking about teammates like that, let the coaches handle that behind closed doors

Do you mean "Lighten up Francis"?

Fran is not perfect he has lots of learning and growing still to do. All this is still new and raw to both players and coaches.

If you guys have all these stories then why dont you Email Wildhack. This situation is sounding like another Coach Q Hillsman situation, and that ended with us having a lost year because we didnt fire him until that Article came out which was at the end of the Portal period...

This part.

Again, respect to the poster and absolutely no shade, but it started with noting Gill got multi 7 figure deals. That's the story, the rest is narrative control from the family. Not saying Fran wasn't a or is blameless, but lets not turn this into 100% a "Fran is a bad guy" story.
I unequivocally agree and the source of all of this drama at least my perception of them without full definitive first hand knowledge has been altered. I know a little bit, and there are definitely two sides. And the one being portrayed in my opinion is extremely biased and I honestly defended them in relation to backhanded statements before but there are always two sides to the story and excuse me dear it does not add up, lot more investigating to do and I do not think it should be occurring on a message board. Objective people are not stupid and they certainly can think for themselves without interpreting and then spewing off a bunch of statements concerning the coach literally trying to navigate a chaotic system while still attempting to look for goodness and loyalty. Please do not say someone wanted to come back with good intentions and then definitively make the focus money while denying other considerations such as a viable quarterback. Which in essence is 100% valid. You made a decision and that was exclusively upon you don't play both sides. And I think that was the heart of the issue potentially with this coach. See you later

I think you are very dangerous and you share biased statements without full knowledge on a message board. I do not expect humility from you either but I trust for it. At this age, without full knowledge creates prejudice especially to a less than objective audience potentially. Then you talk about healing, like wow

I don't see anyone wanting to play for free when seven figures are being offered at multiple schools 🤔
