Day 6 - Good Friday in the Portal

If Woody stays, I really don't want's Swider on the roster. Villanova supposedly didn't play him enough because he lacked the footspeed for man-to-man defense. How would he cover all the space a Syracuse forward must cover in the zone? It takes some serious athleticism, no?

If we have Woody (maybe starting if QG's gone?) & Jimmy B backing up the forwards, we'll have all the shooters we need, right?

With Marek, JBA, Kadary and Robert gone we have spots to fill already. I don’t know if the current bait to Swider and others reflects AG’s and Woody’s positions yet

He’s not leaving Villanova to go somewhere else to sit the bench. He’s going somewhere to play more than 18mpg. If I had a gun to my head I would say our forward rotation will be Benny/Cole/Jimmy next year.

This is a crazy game of musical chairs... There will be winners from the sweepstakes, teams that upgrade their talent.

But ultimately, kids will move into worse situations too, may even be left out in the cold or end up staying right at the original school.

The product will end up being watered down, you’ll have kids learning new systems and not developing within the system that wee used to traditionally seeing.

Academics have to suffer in the aggregate, transferring credits alone has always been slippery.

And it’s hard not to think there’ll be a bigger brown bag component.

It’s fun on one hand, but it’s absolutely terrifying too.

Yeah... He should really get a move on if he is. Everyday he doesn’t he’s only further limiting his opportunities.

I think guys that aren’t a proven entity are going to have a hard time in the portal unless heading to a lesser school.

I'd say we only want Sid to come back with the idea being he'd be a backup to our starter. Relying on his knees seems like a foolish bet.

Swider’s defensive rebounder % was slightly higher than Bobby’s and that was with better rebounders around him. I think it’s fair to say he’ll be an upgrade on the boards.

Bringing Cole in gives you another shooter. Woody can shoot it no doubt but he isn't a pure shooter. If it's possible I would want both.

It’s the scariest part imo... I don’t know how there won’t be serious academic implications.

A question regarding the portal. If a kid would be academically ineligible at his current school, would he (she) be automatically eligible at their new ‘portal’ school? I was wondering if players who would be suspect academically could also be getting a freebie from repercussions by entering the portal?

Perhaps he has his AAU or high school coach reaching out a few places to gauge interest behind the scenes. With the portal over flowing it is taking some time would be my guess. No one anticipated the surge into the portal, gotta believe it's gummed up the system. So maybe he is sitting on his Cuse scholly until he gets some confirmation of interest? Just spit balling here...I would have thought JB would have put a time box on the decision so he could recruit the portal if needed.
