Yes! That would work. Hoping our QB can make those throws consistently.Maybe Alford is getting the FBP designation

Agreed. He's not as twitchy and shifty as Thompson is but his size, strength and speed is probably right on par with him. Actually Alford is 2" taller. Alford wouldn't be as explosive but he could play the 'football player' position. A kid like Shrader would be absolutely perfect in that roll but that is obviously not happening if he is the starting QB.That kid was a top dual threat QB. Not sure if Alford is twitchy enough to do some of the things he does. I like the idea though.

Just watching that video, I love the route combinations in that offense so much better than what we have been doing. If we can just get the pass blocking to hold up a second longer we could do great things. That kid was a top dual threat QB. Not sure if Alford is twitchy enough to do some of the things he does. Agree I thought he was more of a outside the hashes guy like Turner Morant or Custis. If he can play inside and be a true weapon on seam routes that would be greatThat kid was a top dual threat QB. Not sure if Alford is twitchy enough to do some of the things he does. I like the idea though.
Agree. Cruz seems to be a dog with some bite in him. Its just hard to beat out guys that have multiple years going against ACC D lineman.Just watching that video, I love the route combinations in that offense so much better than what we have been doing. I was really hoping to hear from the spring practices that Cruz is really coming on. But that doesn't seem to be happening yet. That kid really appears to have the size, strength and athleticism to be a great OT for us and seems like he should be able to develop into a good pass protector eventually. When he hit campus initially last year close to 300 lbs I really expected to see him get some run early similarly to Bergeron.
I can definitely see him finding gaps and making catches in traffic with his tall frame. I just don't see him running the ball out of the backfield. I could be wrong but I haven't seen that in his repertoire yet.Agree I thought he was more of a outside the hashes guy like Turner Morant or Custis. Im talking about the running skill set. The ability to run, break tackles and make people miss between the tackles.Agreed. I think he would make a great receiving TE. I though he was at 215. Real possibility that he could get to 230 by camp. The idea of Alford moving to TE is intriguing. If he can get up to 230ish would be fine. Hernandez played at about 240, Gronkowski 250.
Shame that kid last year bailed out so early.

Yeah I was too mainly except the extra height comment was more in regards to a benefit in the receiving skills. Seems the position is both receiving via mostly shorter routes then the YAC thereafter, as well as some running plays. I certainly don't think Alford would get the YAC that Thompson did or break as many tackles in the run game, but he still might be decent at that position.Im talking about the running skill set. Definitely seems to have a frame that appears like it could put on some more weight. I could certainly see him becoming a fairly dynamic receiving TE. I think that is a better fit than the 'football player' position. I think playing receiving TE would be the best spot for him.I think he would make a great receiving TE. I though he was at 215. Also noteworthy was this comment - Shrader pointed to redshirt freshmen Kendall Long and Umari Hatcher as receivers who made big jumps during the offseason. Neither recorded any stats in games last season.Interesting mention - refers to Alford as a tight end in the article.
Nice story. Coaching has to be tough on families. I’m glad his stepson stayed.
Why are they practicing in the BIG indoor practice facility, when they could be using the regular indoor practice facility?

Benson would have loved the new OC. Too bad he didn't wait a little.
