They can dress like the Green Bay Packers in 1880s throwback uniforms for practice for all I care. Just do your job and don't get hurt.Always wondered why we didn't use orange practice jerseys...seems like you would want to use orange any chance you get when you are Syracuse ORANGE.

I think it's a throwback to Coach Mac days. Some of the board historians can correct me if I'm wrong, but Coach Mac used green and red jerseys, and when Marrone came back he went back to it.I could care less also...its just practice. Just wondered why not Orange.

ahh...I knew there had to be a reason.
I was looking at the practice schedule and while I never paid much attention to it in the past, I noticed that they don't practice nearly as much as I would have thought. Obviously there are NCAA rules about how much practice time is allowed but I was surprised as it looks like they only practice a couple days a week for a few months. Are the players allowed to practice on the off days? Doesn't seem like nearly enough time to install a whole new offense.
HCDB stated he wanted to start early and spread out the practices, so the team could learn the offense. It allows for time for the ideas to set it and players to review them. Players can get together and practice without coaches as much as they want. The NCAA does limit the number of spring practices you can have.ahh...I knew there had to be a reason.

Syracuse head coach Dino Babers on Day 1 of spring ball: "They'll probably never be this fresh again."
Syracuse head coach Dino Babers shed little on conditioning/installation. Don't expect many specifics from him as spring ball goes on.
Syracuse LB Zaire Franklin was limited in practice today, wearing a red (non-contact) jersey. Babers didn't specify the injury.
Coach Mac started the red/green jersey's in '81 with red for the D (stop) and green for the O (go) with QB's wearing white jersey's. Coach Maloney used the blue for D and white for O. Never liked the red/greed concept but liking the change under HCDB and can't wait to see the revised uni's for this season.I think it's a throwback to Coach Mac days.
