Day Ten Spring Practice: Wednesday, March 30, 2022

I've been screaming this since last year. He led the scout team very well last season. I fully expect him to be the #2.

Seriously?

That would be... something.

Meaning that after not playing Sr yr HS, or very much last year (other than Scout Team), Lamson would leap ahead of Villari and Capt. Morgan??
Both of whom have taken actual game snaps.

I guess the one thing very much in his favor is -
assuming he has the goods, the new staff have no preconceived notions about anybody, and they will all get a fair shake to grab their spot on the depth chart.

Most think he won't?

I assumed everyone likes his potential. We may have wanted to pump the brakes a bit last season since he was a true freshman who didn't get to play his senior season in HS.
Some posters were a little enthusiastic in pumping the brakes on Landon based on his limited high school and college experience while ignoring his time running the scout team.

Fair, I guess. Don't remember all of it. But I took the post literally when the word "most" was used.

I thought most compared him to being a Dungey type and were excited about him. I do remember people not wanting him to be thrown into the fire last year (myself included). If he wins this job, I think the entire board would quickly rally behind him.

I'm excited that all of our QBs are similar in playing style. No wasted time, and all should be ready to run the same offense if called upon.

I could be 100% wrong - but I definitely don't think it's going to be Morgan. I haven't heard anything about Lt. Dan, but after last season, I know the staff was very high on Lamson.

Happy to eat crow if I am wrong. That mean's Morgan has taken a huge step.

Fair enough.

Also - is Lt. Dan to go along with Capt. Morgan now a thing?

Because I'm 144% on board with it, if it is!!

OiG, can we get a ruling here?

Not sure I'm in love with the nickname of Lt. Dan, if for no other reason than it implies very limited mobility. Although, it does also imply he has a Dungey-like indifference to getting killed.

I might have missed it but I think Villari has not taken too many reps so far in “live” situations.

Would assume the #2 spot is between Lamson and Morgan

I had commented in another thread recently that I think he's going to be a player, and that he will most certainly leap frog Jacobian Morgan, and I got lambasted for it. And here we are a few weeks later and he's taking some snaps with the 1st string O.

I can say that almost every person in this forum at some point said they expect Lamson to pass the young QB's on the roster. If I can recall I think people were wondering why you assumed Morgan couldnt get better and had him transferring before it was actually proven on the field.

I echo what Jaime said. With the little man from The Athletic in greener pastures and the coverage of SU football by the PS dramatically downgraded, all we have now is Mike covering recruiting and Steve covering practices.

We would be in a world of hurt without Stephen’s videos. We really would.
