Day Ten Spring Practice: Wednesday, March 30, 2022

I think this team is one of Babers most all around talented teams but I will say this as well. This team has some DUDES and some DAWGS. That is a recipe for success. Some talent and guys that aren’t afraid of anyone and are willing to throw a punch back at anyone that knocks them down. I have a feeling this team is going to be easy to root for and fun to watch. Buckle up

Agreed

Also everyone around this program just seems much more happy, relaxed, and optimistic this spring than we have seen in years.

Our defense embodies that.

Im waiting for a vocal, fiery leader to arise on offense. Maybe that can be Bergeron or someone else?

It’s one thing to lead by example, its another to do so and be able to change the momentum of a game while firing up your teammates.

I think Garrett’s capable, but he’s gotta be vocal. Maybe a college vet like Price could bring that fire too.

We have some All ACC players on both sides of the ball. There‘s some playmakers on defense and Tucker on offense. We might have the best trio of linebackers in the conference and our two corners are not far behind.
Absolutely, throw in some proven offensive minds at QB coach and OC and it’s exciting.

Mikel Jones, Garrett Williams, Duce, Stefon Thompson to name a few on defense.

On offense: Shrader, Tucker, Bergeron & Bleich come to mind.

This season could be fun!

Rhino is someone on offense I wouldn’t want to mess with.

I echo what Jaime said. With the little man from The Athletic in greener pastures and the coverage of SU football by the PS dramatically downgraded, all we have now is Mike covering recruiting and Steve covering practices.

We would be in a world of hurt without Stephen’s videos. We really would.
I highly recommend when his website has a VIP sale of 50% off folks here support him. I do love getting Paramount plus included with the subscription. You can read VIP threads and recruiting news around the 247 network too.

Dont sleep on Rhino

OLINE...I feel a full recovery by Bleich is key.
With him, Bergeron, Davis Ellis Ilaoa beating on a team's Dline for 3 quarters
under Schmidt's tutelage , we ought to own the 4th.

I love the momentum right now. Great staff, and looks like some positions are at or above peer levels in the ACC. Have to hope the depth holds up though, we tend to forget how important that is when projecting.

That said, other teams have momentum too and this year's schedule is loaded. We could look like a better team on the field and go 4-8. Excluding Wagner/UConn, the only teams on our schedule without an experienced QB (that's been very productive) are ND and Clemson. Yay.

I would say the LB corps rivals two of my favorites from the last 20 years which would be Spruill/Smith/Hogue and of course Clifton Smith, Rich Scanlon, and Jameel Dumas.

Yep, and maybe more importantly, these are quality young men that represent SU with class and dignity. The culture is top notch.

...and Pitt, which also lost their OC.

Pitt's OC loss is big. But they brought in an experienced, productive QB via transfer. Wish we played them earlier in the season.

Really concerned about both lines (D more than O). If that miraculously comes together then I agree

I'm extremely concerned about the Dline. I feel really good about Oline, especially with a healthy Bleich. I'm curious how the Oline will shake out, but I think we're much deeper there than we have been in a long time.

I believe we will bring in 1 or 2 D. Lineman via portal or JC. the thing that upsets me is we should of had at least 1 here to go through spring ball and learn the system and be better prepared for the fall. Dino knew this unit was thin and young he really needed to be more aggressive in filling the void.

I agree. I love what he has done between the coaching hires and other portal guys. But the lack of size and depth along the defensive line is glaring. I think we have a couple young guys who are going to be pretty good, but I'm not sure if it will be this season. Hopefully we can snag 1 or even 2 this summer. I think Dino and the staff will get it done.
