So why did they choose Tampa 2 again? We couldn't get pressure on blitzes last year let alone just rushing 4.

Choose system 1st, recruit players to it.

The DL last year in our old scheme were not necessarily relied on to get pressure, it was more about gap control and shedding blockers. Not pin your ears back and go get the QB.

We would blitz, playing a loose cover 4. leaving many passing lanes to throw in if we didn't get to the QB. One of the reasons why the secondary was so bad. We left them in vulnerable situations and they weren't ready for that. Thats why teams would run bubble screens and curl out routes for fun. High risk high reward.

Glad you are back...How does he like the new strength and conditioning program? I know this is an area he already had a lot of knowledge about and excelled at before arriving on campus so I was hoping that the new program was serving him well.

He likes it. Says the new coaches are sticklers for form. Dogmatic, actually. Said Coach Hicks was much more lax in ensuring proper form was maintained during lifts. That could explain a lot of the injuries over the past few years...

Best news I have heard all day!

This was exactly what I wanted to hear about...regarding form. My only insight to the previous S/C program were from videos posted and discussions here on this forum. I take all discussions here with a grain of salt but every video I watched of players working out seemed to have horrible form (everything from squats, power cleans, benching, sprinting, etc.) Form is EXTREMELY important...poor form in the gym will lead to poor form in games and will eventually lead to injury...not if but when. I am glad that they emphasis this as this was one of my biggest critiques. Poor form will also limit peak performance.

Hicks being lax is an understatement. I can't tell you how many times I just shook my head at the form being used in our workout videos.

If he holds his speed, he will terrorize offenses!

This ^ ...he was big and fast last year, can't wait to see what he will do with a full year of S/C and with the new S/C coaches. They seem to have a better grasp on how to train for strength and speed.

This should make you proud as a parent. There were multiple games where your son would make a great play and the people around me would say who the hell is that beast? he is huge. When I told them his name is Steven Clark and a true freshman they couldn't believe it...I believe they thought I was just a crazy drunk making stuff up.

There was one play where i believe the rb (mabye qb) took the ball and started to run toward the sideline where I sit in an attempt to break around the edge. He would of had a huge play but your son chased him the entire way and just when he was going to cut up field Steven tackled him from behind. Showed great speed and hustle. Again, people were amazed when I told them he was a true freshman.

I believe he will make a huge jump this year.
