Class of 2026 DB Tedarius Hughes (FL) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (11/4/25)

U see him at cuse?

A guy down here who is pretty connected thinks it’s between a couple schools but a different Florida school is the one to watch out for most. He does like Cuse quite a bit though.

Does the state of Florida have any transfer rules?

The only rule I am aware of is the SEC rule around transfers in Dec. However since he hasn't set foot on campus yet its still the wild wild west.

HS transfer rules. Kids can't transfer around in NY like those kids in Florida seemingly do. you can transfer just not that easy and still be eligible.

Ah yeah I’m not sure about the HS transfer rules here, never looked into them. I will ask the next time I bump into him if this is an issue.

I remember Matt Palumb transferred to West Genny in the fall of either his junior or senior year to play football for his dad. He transferred back to JD in the spring in time for lacrosse season.

A great lacrosse player; he was one year ahead of me in school

What are the rules in NYS? Do athletes have to sit out? Here in Florida kids can apply for a variance to transfer to a new school and play immediately if approved

Here in Iowa, you just have to have a residence in the school district. It is very common for some parents to rent an apartment and either stay there part-time, or I have seen some teenagers living on their own for periods of time to attend a school with better athletics.

Back 20 years ago, I know of NYS kids who would have parents rent a dumpy apartment in a school district just so their kids could play for that program. I am not sure how it is now.

As a friend of SUFaninNJ, I will vouch for her: She was (and probably still is) absolutely adorable!

Edit: If I say "Yes, she's hot!" I might lose my friendship. On the other hand, I might also gain a black eye...or two.

It’s an uphill climb to get him to leave the state regardless
think we would need to increase the 💰 for him to fs leave the state but we will see I hope we flip 5 more guys this class or get 5 more recruits and I will be happy.
Also question what big name 2027 guy u think we will land ik the nw Miami wr but maybe we can get 2 super elite recruits .
