I am a native of Cleveland, OH, and a SU student. The weather between the two is very similar. Syracuse gets a little colder and a little snowier, but it gets cold around the same times, need the same type of clothes, same ridiculously late snow storms, same shitty lake effect snow, etc. Syracuse doesn't have a monopoly on bad weather, especially in the northeast.

Comparing the Ohio State football program to the Ohio State basketball program is like comparing Scarlett Johansson to Rosie O'Donnell.

Don't be too harsh on them. Most kids only know the last 5 years or so and Ohio State has been pretty darn successful especially with big men. Having Greg Oden and Jared Sullinger recently holds a lot of weight.
