I hate to say it, but the defense is much more fun to watch than the offense. They attack and really get after it. You can see they are beginning to figure this out. We're not seeing the blown coverage's or guys running 15 yards wide open. Even completed passes have people in pretty good coverage. You finally see players reacting and closing on the ball. Have three ACC wins with two coming on the road is great credit to the coaching staff.

Attacking style defense and they have found their grove on that side of the ball. I know FSU will probably light up the scoreboard next week and obviously win, but it will be fun to watch our defense vs a top flight offense and top flight QB.

Schwartzwalder's teams were known for hitting hard, (Shafer reminds me a bit of Ben). Coach Mac's early teams were known for hard-hitting defense. Coach P was convinced to use an "attack" defense in 1996-97 with great results although we later faded back into "read and cover". Shafer has brought back that style and it's a good thing. It's the way good teams play.

All football plays are team plays but I think fans look at a great offensive play and see great individual talents. They look at a great defense play and they attribute it to the entire team. Since it's a team sport, that seems to fit in. "We" did it. Not "he" did it.

That's the biggest change I've noticed these last 2 games - the secondary has improved immensely. Receivers actually seem to be covered and covered closely.
