I agree - we obviously played much better but Va Tech's QB was a step down from what we have seen, at least on Saturday. The QB on the otherside made a huge difference.
Oh, and they are playing better.
That was the biggest change I noticed too Bam.Pressure the qb... it's what the d is built for right now. It works
This game looked like the play calling was a bit more aggressive. It probably allowed a number of guys that looked slow while reading and reacting when they weren't used to it to play faster.
I think it's it's a combo of coaches learning player strengths and playing to them and players also getting used to the system.
Yeah, what's the one we lost this year when we were up by 17? I can't remember any of the early part of the season after the Babers locker room speech. Not sure that's the example you mean (playing with the lead and all).
legit question-----i have been critical of our defense this year mostly because they seem undersized and slower than our opponents. what made the difference against vt???did we make any changes or did we play the same scheme. i don't know enough about it. they seemed more confident, less hesitant etc. anyone with expertise have thoughts on this--thanks

When you know what your assignment is, you can play faster without hesitation, that I think is coming along with the more actual game reps each youngster gets.I think some of that is the secondary guys playing tighter and being in the right spots. Less blown coverages can lead to more freedom to create pressure a bit more.
Sorry, just now reading this. The locker room speech was really freaking good. Would love to know what was said during the kumbaya moment, but that'll probably be the team's "little secret" forever. Steven was pretty happy with the defense's performance, and can't wait to repeat that at BC.Steve what did you think of the video from the locker room and how pumped was Steve after the game?
