Obviously got gassed at the end of the game but how can you blame them. Our offense did next to nothing and they were on the field the whole game.

To me they played an outstanding game. Not only did the whole unit play an outstanding game but the young guys looked the part and were making plays. You obviously had Cisco, Black, Williams, Iffy and Kingsley making plays. Trill was quiet.

But how about the young guys not only looking the part but they made plays. Mikel Jones, GCA, Linton, Williams and Nunn all played solid and made some plays.

If there’s one thing that needs to be cleaned up it’s the tackling, need to wrap up better. I think some of that had to be the fact they were getting worn down. But other than that I really think this unit played well.

Also, I really hope Richards is only suspended for a couple games (yes he made a mistake and deserves the consequences) but 3 guys (Richards, GCA and Linton) all running around with their size and athletic ability would be awesome to have. Those 3 are the real deal in the middle.

Can't blame the defense for what happened today. It's like the Clemson game last year. You could only miss on every opportunity for so long before the defense was gassed. Through 2.5 quarters, it was a tight game.

The biggest issue with Dino's offense is it gasses the defense, the area where Syracuse does have above average ACC players sprinkled in.

An offense that even holds the ball for a 3 and out consisting of a minute and 20 seconds of game clock run off would be an upgrade from the offense that goes 3 and out and does it FAST!

Is it the scheme or the pieces in the scheme?
Scheme, there was no change in it from last year. one special play and thats it

its not the players. when we did things like the bubble screens or that special jordan play we moved the ball. running up the middle with JJ on 1st down every drive and some second downs doesnt work

When we had AET and Ishmael catching the ball we moved it too. Did the scheme cause the drops by the WRs today?

No it didnt and ill give you that

Scheme. Can point at our lack of running backs and OL depth, but then we run dives with a 175 lb change of pace back. We dont use a TE as a wide in the redzone. ZERO usage of the middle of the field in the pass game. Its the scheme, it’s bad and the forced fast pace makes it worse because it forces our defense back on the field every five minutes.

Meh. 3 and outs suck no matter what.

That extra minute doesn't matter when a TV timeout will usually be mixed in.

We are not picking up 10 yards with 3 straight runs either.

Don't you remember how every seemingly decent run today would only net 3-4 yards when the hole looked good enough for 7-8 at least.

Markenzy is not a D1 back. Jordan would be a useful player if he was a change of pace guy who lined up at WR occasionally. He sucks as the starting RB.

We have the same scheme as when we used those positions better/were more diverse. If you're saying we aren't adapting to our personnel, I can see that, but that is not the same as installing a new scheme. Jordan is similar in size to Neal, so I don't see why he would need to be used differently.

The biggest differences between 2018 and last year and today are oline and qb. The oline opened up more holes and Dungey covered up a lot. Imagine Jordan with some of the space we saw in 2018. Nobody would be talking about scheme then.

That extra minute matters over the course of 7 1st half possessions.

You must have seen different holes then I did. UNC had holes and their backs made guys miss later in the game. Jawhar ran up the gut into our OL. Probably did that 2 or 3 times. I didn't see many holes Jawhar could pick, especially as a rFR getting his first real run as a feature back (think he missed 1 or 2 that I wish he hit).

I do not think your evaluations of the backs is wrong at this stage of their careers.

If Dino is smart he slows the O way down.

Jordan would be so much better as a starting back if every run wasnt up the middle

The press conference mentioned how he first looks at how many plays he ran compared to the other team

Is it really though our 3 and outs take around a minute to be done. At least milk an extra 30 seconds from it
From the perspective of giving the D a little more rest, yes I agree. From my standpoint, I think it's just delaying the inevitable and forcing my eyes to wait in anticipation to see the same outcome basically every drive.

Fair enough. At least going slower at least allows me to imagine us running a play other then HB dive or a deep route to taj down the sidelines

How about a third and long, 3 step drop, tuck the ball after 2 seconds because pressure is "felt", roll to the right and either throw it out of bounds or run out of bounds behind the los?
