Delay of game ins two point conversion…

The real poor decision happened on the previous offensive possession when he shut the offense down and went into clock killing mode instead of staying on the attack. Playing not to lose is weak.

The Shafer UVA game was as bad as a coach could manage a game. This week's game was right up there.

Accepting the holding penalty was horrendous. Wake got great field position for that drive. Defense won, get off the field. This gave Wake at a minimum 4 extra points.

You don't go for two when they did. Unless there is some advanced analytic I'm not privy to. That cost Cuse 1 point.

Loved the call to go for 2 and try to win the game. Hated that they didn't even have a chance because of bad game management.

On the other end, coaching staff has obviously made upgrades and adapted to the players we have. It doesn't look like David vs. Goliath like in years past. Our kids look just as big and talented as other ACC programs.

I really think we need to see how this team finishes before we call for a change. If Cuse doesn't win another game, try to find the money for a buyout. If Cuse can manage 2-3 wins (not sure where those are coming from) then don't blow it up yet. I'm not confident that Cuse nails the coaching hire.

Dino's excuse/explanation was that their kicker was nailing it from distance in practice. Practice, practice, PRACTICE - big diference when it counts.

Dear Dino - WHO TF CARES???!!!

You make him kick a 50+ yarder there, and even IF he makes it, you’ve only given up 3.

IF not, you have great field position.

And EITHER WAY - you still have plenty of time left for another drive of your own, to potentially offset that score, or even increase your lead.

That, plus the delay of game coming out of the TO, are just TURRIBLE, awful, very very bad coaching malfeasance.

We can overcome: bad officiating, bad kicking & punting, and the occasional big play given up by our D.

We CANNOT overcome terrible clock and game management.
And that is 144% Dino’s fault.

Your bringing up The UVA game where the refs GAVE UVA 7 points on that BS forward pass call that they said was a fumble as one of Shafer's bad coaching games? That call was as bad as they come.

Who cares. Shafer was a terrible head coach. That team was almost as depressing to watch as Grob. The level of incompetence every game was insane. DB isn’t too far off though.

Look Q, I try to be fair to whoever is the coach and Shafer had the bad luck of having all his QB's injured which would sink any team so I don't see any reason to bring him up just to bash him. As to Dino, give him his last 2 years and unless they are phenomenal, no new contract.

Haha bad luck, he left his best qb in to get hammered. He created his own "bad luck". As much as I loved Hunt, him getting hurt might have been good luck for Shafer as it was looking pretty rough against Rhode Island early. Dungey was an instant upgrade.

But this is all a distant memory and I don't remember it as well as others. I was just comparing awful coaching we've had here the past decade. I liked Shafer, I like Dino, just need him to be better.

there was plenty of time after wake scored to get points before the half if we execute the plays that were called, there was one bad throw and 1 drop or we were in fg range

Hunt was a decent QB and probably would have got to another bowl in 14 if he didn't get hurt. Dino has an explosive offense this year when you factor in Shraders big play Xfactor and he needs to go with them to get wins.

He and White we leave.
Except they go if he goes. How often does a staff stick around when a coach is fired? You very rarely see a coordinator stay when a coach retires like at Virginia Tech.

We're not drawing an already successful P5 coach, so we'd have to play the G5 or respected coordinator roulette and hope they translate.

I get frustrated with the in game decisions but I like the way he has corrected problems within the program such as oline coach and d coordinator, even if it took longer than I like. I'm willing to role with him. If he gets us successful and then bolts, at least we're in a better position to attract a better replacement. If we don't get better, what's the difference if we fire him this year or in 3 years?

Mark Richt just said on The Huddle the delay of game was on Dino & his staff.

Gilbert should have asked Dino at the start of the drive if he was planning on going for two points after the TD. Then the staff should have told the offense at the outset of the drive that if we score a TD we are going for two. It should never have come down to a decision after the score resulting in a delay of game.

Basically this is 100% on Dino.
I could have said that for half the salary he gets

I like defensive staff and our OL coach. Maybe our new WR coach is a keeper but the rest can go. Problem is if Dino is let go then we likely lose the staff and some players. I see potential with this team and would like to see it for the next two years so would be frustrating to reset but I just don’t see Dino being better than a 7 or 8 win coach in a good year.

He's already done it.

Last point. If Dino ever turns it around he will bolt and take the first offer he gets.

Outside of saving the buyout money there isn't any upside with this guy. He isn't loyal to SU was out the door after Erics miracle year and only stayed because the coaching cards didn’t fall his way.

Guy wears SU Hawaiian shirts. Hes gone once his buyout is less and he will leave the first Chance he gets.

SU is in a no win situation with this CAT.

If he turns it around here, we will be happy.

And any coach who turns it around here is a candidate for a better job. We aren't a destination school.

If you think ti would be bad for us if he leaves, then you shouldn't want him fired.

Why? Wouldn't you rather be up 3 points instead of two?

OK, so then - why don’t teams just go for 2 all the time then?

Because the odds aren’t that great that they’ll get it.

Um, 47% chance for 2 points versus greater than 95% chance for 1 point?

When you're ahead or before the 4th quarter should always take the most likely points. No need to gamble with the lead. Dino has proven that the low percentage attempts to score in two games are a fools bet.

I was screaming for Dino to take the easy points but then realized we were trying to draw them offsides. I actually don’t have an issue with that one in particular.
