Awesome news! I know he's not for everyone but IMO we're lucky to have an enthusiastic commentator like him who is all about making the game fun.

Some folks don't like him as an announcer, but Dick is a good man.

He’s an icon for the glory days of cbb and just a great all around human being. There will never be anyone as passionate about cbb as Dick has been all these years. Hope he gets many more years to enjoy the game and everyone around it.
I've posted a story elsewhere here before. In a nutshell: I reached out to him, sort of as a joke, and he responded back with extreme kindness and in like humor. Super cool on his part. When he did a game at the Dome when I was there, I bought his book (as a gift for my dad) and was in line to have him sign it and he did an impromptu motivational speech which was awesome.
I've also had family down in Sarasota, FL since the 70s and he lives in that area and is around all the time. Everyone has nothing but nice things to say about him.
He is a great guy, although when I hear the term "Diaper Dandy" I cringe and turn off the game. I guess I can put up with it. Glad he is still with us.I've posted a story elsewhere here before. Dickie V will be broadcasting his 1st game in almost two years tomorrow. Duke @ Wake. God bless him. The guy is a warrior and so resilient. And a true champion of fighting cancer. Literally and figuratively. Lets pray that he never has to go thru another battle and everyday is another day closer to eradicating cancer in our lifetime.ESPN analyst Vitale says he is again cancer-free
ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale said Thursday that his most recent scan showed he is cancer-free.www.espn.com
This guy can’t catch a break. Getting old stinks. Hope he gets to call a game soon
