Did anybody else get this email? (Cuse Fan Council)

I didn't apply but I know someone who was selected. They were told not to let people know they were on the council. I believe the first meeting will be early January. There were over 600 people that submitted applications for it.

Probably a good idea so people don't keep pumping them , bugging them for info etc.

Agenda Item #1

The next student that shakes his or her keys gets his or her eye gouged out by the key of his or her choice.
we need a like one thousand times for this and an investigation into who started that stupid key shaking and give them a swirly.

Also someone needs to tell the student section person to stop soliciting people to do the wave during basketball games fer crissakes

First rule of The Council is don't talk about The Council.

Edit: And don't talk about the confidentiality agreement.

Rocco, the person I know wasn't told about the beer and Dino, I guess they will have to wait until the 4th to find out at the meeting.

so if people dont know who is on the council how does the council person get ideas other than the ones they come in with?

I think that's the point. They want individual opinions from people from all different walks of life. Young, Old, hardcore fan, casual fan, season ticket holder, non season ticket holder, people think tickets are too expensive, people who think tickets are priced right...etc. They don't want the council member to go out and socialite ideas from their buddies of every complaint their friends have and bring it to the group, they want that one person's thoughts on things and only that one person's thoughts.

which is how they ended up with so many poorly thought ideas now. i would hope the goal would be to get all the ideas they can and then implement the best ones or the ones with the best bang for the buck. most people have a handful of ideas, this board probably has 50-100 and by limiting the input to a dozen or so you have ensured many good ideas never get heard.

The biggest problem in the past was poor leadership from the AD and a staff that wasn't best-in-class. Coyle and team already solve that. Fan Councils are a nice thing, but they're a focus group. Anyone in the research biz knows that you have to take focus groups with a gigantic grain of salt. They're good for adding color, but they're terrible at coming up with innovative ideas.

Well its not a 1 time deal. The 16 people aren't supreme court judges they only hold their council seat for a year. Then they pick another 16 people. So every year you get a fresh batch of people and ideas. It's not a one-time fix. It's an ongoing process that will go on and on as long as they keep the council together.

i get that, but its also assuming all ideas are created equal.. someone may have a super idea that 10 years from now gets on the board or never at all. idea 1.. create a way for ideas to get to the board..

It's up to Coyle and his staff to sift through all that. There's also a full thread of stuff on this board that will (if it hasn't already) found its way to management.

There is no perfect system. And you can't have 100 people be on this council cause nothing would get done. It would be too large.

By the way, anyone can just email the sports department, the AD's office, or the dome management with an idea or suggestion. You don't need to be on the council to do that. You can do that now

yup but if they dont see the value of the email it goes no where. you would hope the job of the council is to review things as a group at least then more than 1 person would shoot an idea down. and i know all ideas wont fly even some good ones for reasons beyond good or bad.

So they already violated their oath. Nice.
