Did Boeheim really say this?

They’re playing roughly the same minutes and taking the same number of shots as Battle, Howard, and Brissett did a few years ago. This is what he does.

Battle and Brissett are better than any of these guys.

And I’ll take Symir and Benny over Howard Washington and Matt Moyer anyday.

I bought the “we have nothing off the bench so we have to really ride our horses”, in 2018.

This year we don’t have horses, but our bench guys aren’t terrible.

Also, 2018 had Chukwu at center. The perimeter guys had to take all the shots. This year we have Edwards, who is the best player on the team. We should go to him more.

Many of our fans wanted to run Brissett out of town.

His lack of finishing was frustrating, particularly as a sophomore.

But at least he played really good defense. Some might’ve took that for granted because our starting forwards pretty much always played really good defense.

Seemed like a given that we’d always have some 6’8 athletes who get after it.

It’s all relative. (No pun intended.)

Williams and Moyer are a wash.

I agree Torrence and Anselem should play more. Of course, that’s not the point. In a lot of ways, JB is coaching this team just as he coached the 2018 team. The same minutes distribution, the same offense, the same work-in-progress point guard.

And I think that’s bad strategy with this group. The guys he’s riding are the worst defenders, and aren’t good enough offensively to make up for it.

I was encouraged that Symir had a good second half run at the point with Joe off the ball.

These guys are mostly too one dimensional this year to just “ride the horses for 35+” - I think he’s gotta be more flexible with the rotations. They just don’t typically do enough to be out there that much. The constant should be, pound it into Jesse. And others have said it a lot, but the way Joe is shooting the ball, it would be nice if we could focus on freeing him up a bit more, as Torrence is playing a lot better now and should be able to handle good minutes.

Torrence is the only real option to get 25-20 minutes a game, though. I doubt the plan going into the season was for Williams to play as little as he has. He just doesn’t have much to offer right now.

Yeah I can’t disagree. Though I like his defensive upside at least. You can’t teach athleticism.

I’d like to see more 3 guard lineup and at least Benny getting a real crack each game, which to be fair he was getting that for most of the year.

In a perfect world he starts playing really good defense, allowing us to go Symir, Joe, Buddy, Benny, Jesse for stretches - 3 good defenders(dream with me for a minute), 2 shooters off the ball, a true distributor PG, and a low post stud. Feel like that could be a lineup that you can win with.

But again - Benny has to play the defense consistently. I feel like he could, but who knows.

Yes, in 46 years he never experimented with a lineup in an exhibition game? Well he wont admit but he experimented with a M2M defense in an exhibition against LeMoyne that ended up in a loss. It was good because lessons were learned in that game.

I have never seen a more rigid coach who tries to sound so rigid and standoffish when questions are posed to him.
Never seen a coach like that, really? John Thompson maybe. Heck, Bill Belichick has made an artform of it.

“I like this job, I’ve had it for a long time, Paul.” Boeheim said. “I’ve had it because I play the best players. I never have experimented in 46 years. And I’m certainly not going to start experimenting now. That’s not the way you coach. That’s not the way you do anything. Anybody in any line of work that just tries an experiment doesn’t know what they’re doing. This isn’t a chemistry lab.”

A friend posted this, and it is so stupid I almost can't believe he actually said it. Cursory google brought up nothing, so I figured I would check with the experts.
His best players are also named Boeheim.

Thompson was a jerk.
Belichick's nonsense is so dopey that it's actually funny now.
But the worst I've ever seen is former Giants football coach Ray Handley.
Good thing he left football and became a lawyer.

They exceed Boeheim's disinterest in straight talk at news conferences and respecting reporters.

But Boeheim rules when it comes to criticizing his own players...even those who may need a little uplifting instead of criticism (Benny).

If practice makes perfect, who do they practice against? Who are the members of the practice squad?

Handley became a lawyer? I hadn't heard that before. I know he basically disappeared from the public.

I get a kick how some folks claim the coaches kids are the best players on the team. Jesse can easily lay claim to the best player on the team.
