did lunardi really say 4-2 gives us a shot??

Joe says everyone has a shot, personally I look at team rankings and they say (including tourney)

22 wins = 21% chance
23 wins = 70% chance
24 wins = 100% chance (because they assume that’s ACCT win I believe)

Hard to believe 4-2 would be enough when our NET ranking only went up from 98 to 95 after beating NC St. Not a lot of opportunity in our remaining regular season schedule except for at Pitt. Might have to at least get to the ACCT Final. I think we're playing for an NIT bid now, and that may be in question with a low NET ranking.

I've never thought we were as far out of bubble consideration as some. I believe we have a lot of work still to do, but certainly feasible. It obviously depends on what other teams are doing, but I like our chances if we can finish 13-7 in the regular season and make the finals in the acc tournament. The only downer to that outcome is that if we end up doing that, Mintz is probably continuing to play really well possibly leading himself to the draft.

You want players to be NBA prospects, that’s a good thing. I wish a guy like Malachi had more success but I don’t think it’s ever bad to get a guy drafted.

That’s like saying I wish Melo would have stunk it up in 2003 so we could have had him back the next year.

That's what you're saying, not me. I'll take Mintz playing well and getting drafted any day of the week. I actually like this team.

Lunardi has the following teams as last 4 in.

Clemson ( 7-4 vs q1/q2, 2 q1 wins)
UNC (6-10 vs q1/q2, 0 q1 wins)
Miss St(5-8, 3 q1 wins)
New Mexico(5-3, 3 q1 wins)

And then First four out:

Oregon (8-9, 3 q1 wins)
UK ( 7-8, 1 q1 win)
USC (7-6, 3 q1 win)
Wisconsin (9-10, 5 q1 win)

Now we are 2-8 with 0 q1 wins. We are a long ways back from this and the best we can do before the acct is 7-8 with 1 q1 win before the acct. Those other teams have opportunities as well. We don't have a q4 loss which is good but outside of that we are simply in a win out or hope these 8 crash hard..

its simple

20 wins total to even qualify for the NIT
23 for the NCAA's

These include the ACC Tournament
I think 19 will be good enough for NIT including a first round win in ACCT

I’ve never seen it as a downer when a Orange player balls out.
I agree. Although, it's been a downer when guys leave early (at least for me). I'm always happy for them and wish them well - but from a fan perspective, it's disappointing to lose their talent and production.

Need to be on the other side from UVA and they get knocked out

even if we lose out we go 16-16 and thats all you need to make the nit even if they dont pick us.

I get wisc is ahead of us because net means everything but are they really any better..

You go down the b10 and go wow I dont want to play that team and its pretty much Purdue and then a ton of avg teams just like ACC. They have 2 ranked teams the Bad ACC has 3..

Everyone is gonna end up with 10+ losses after the top 10 it seams and when the top 20 is really avg lots of teams end up with net wins without really being very good.

barttorvik.com has a Teamcast page where you can play around with different W/L scenarios and see how they change Cuse’s bubble status.

If you click ”win out” to make us 5-0 the rest of the regular season, we’re in … the next four out.

I would not take bootleg kenpom as gospel, but I trust it more than Joey.

I probably believe this is on the money, but if we then win 2 in the ACC tournament, I think we are looking pretty good.

Neat page. Added some ACC tourney wins at the end and still no dice. Clearly a very uphill climb

Nope...NIT changed several years ago. A .500% power team isn't an automatic anymore. Probably need about 19 wins.
