Dino’s H0t Seat Rankings

Right. This was my original point. If it’s going to take consistency to get you to have faith, and you say that is a two year process - I guess we get your negative takes for two more years.

I don’t think he’s out of the woods - we lose the last 3 and it’s going to be tough. But, I know we will be competitive in all 3. And that’s fun and positive. See?!

LVille is a bad matchup for us and their QB is a runner. Must get healthy and find a way to scratch and claw out a win. Dont want to have to rely on beating either NIT State or Pitt to get bowl eligible.

He's watching good football. You absolutely go for two in that situation to make it 6 pts. The odds of a turnover/return on a 2 PT play are higher than a PAT, but that not that much higher. If it's a pass play you tell Shrader to throw the ball out of play, if it's a run play you tell Shrader/Tucker to protect the ball and avoid the strip.
We’ve seen how pass plays near the goal line can have disastrous results.

I disagree - respectfully. Both 2012 and 2018 were very fun - for sure. But I'd argue this team is better - despite the 4-4 record. 2012 we finished very strongly and went 8-5 - including some miracle wins (Missouri game was one I recall). With Marrone - we eked out wins. At the very end of 2012, the team was clicking and won its bowl game easily - but it wasn't a great team by any measure.

2018 was also a joy - and getting to 10 wins incredible - unbelievable, frankly. (I admit, it's a tougher argument for me to say the current team is better than 2018, but this is my opinion.)

I'll argue that this team is more dynamic, stronger on defense and has a bigger upside - horrible special teams notwithstanding. We have lost 4 games by an aggregate 19 points. You can all mock me if we finish 4-8 - have at it! But if the trend continues, as I hope, this is turning into a very good year. And I hope an even better one in '22.

Not sure I’d agree w/2012. This team is fun to watch for sure. I’ve enjoyed this year. 2012 was also enjoyable. That team was competitive despite being outmatched physically/athletically against most teams. That team fought hard for wins. I wouldn’t call Missouri a miracle win for a team that went 8-5 and then blow off that we’ve lost 4 games out of 9 this year. That Missouri game was won by sticking in the game, a good gam plan and execution by the players on the road in the SEC.

I agree. But we have a better defense than they do - they are pretty bad on D. Might end up a shoot out.

as long as the BC offense doesn't show up. Cunningham has thrown for 2000 and run for 600.

I still lack faith that Dino is the long term guy. But that isn't cause to fire him.

Things are setting up for 2023 to be a breakout year We have a young team and in 2023 it will be a SR led team. Which HC gives you the best shot at that breakout season should be taken into consideration.

IMO if the next 3 games are just like every other games this year but we go 0-3, Dino deserves to be HC in 2022. I can see the argument for replacing him though.

If the next 3 games are uncompetitive losses, he probably deserves to be fired. I would be shocked if this scenario happens.

If we win one of the next 3 games he 110% deserves to be back in 2022.

The 2022 schedule is a hard one. We can be better but not have it reflect in our W/L record. If we go 5-7 this year and also go 5-7 next year, things would get interesting. Do you then stick with Dino hoping he is the best guy to break through in 2023? Or do you move on because you don't trust Dino and don't want to ruin that SR led team? But then there is the risk of the coaching hire crapshoot. If available I think I would have more faith In Marrone, who IMO would consider keeping White for continuity.

Hopefully none of this happens and he gets us to 6 Ws this year and next so we can all enjoy 2023.

Whew! I'm sure ADJW subscribes to this newsletter. :p
Yep , Wildhack looks at that hot seat ranking and says “ oh he’s not in the top ten I’m not dumping him, I need no other input “

I don't think we were prepared for him. IMO Louisville is Liberty lite. We have two weeks to gameplan. No excuse for pooping the bed on D.
We didn't gameplan for FSU QB

We practiced for Milton all week, coaches said so post game

I can't believe folks are still harping on this. Tucker is going to be in college football for one more year. Please, let's give him (and others, now that the genie is out of the bottle) a reason to transfer next year. Genius, I tell you!

They need to snag a WR and DL from the portal but I think 2022 could be a good year assuming they finish this season solid.

That was my sense going into this year, at least in hoping that Shrader would be the starter. "Got a feelin '21 is gonna be a good year."

Liberty's QB was as well, and we held him in check. We've done a good job against the QB run this year.
I wouldn't be surprised to see us use a spy on defense, at least in certain situations. Wax, Jones and Thompson are a bit undersized, but they are fast and agile enough to contain any QB.
