Dino On Mike & Mike This Morning @ 8:28 AM

As many have mentioned, Dino likes it here. He isn't going to the NFL, and is building a monster. No point in leaving. He has seen the area, appreciates it, and loves the Dome. Just needs the fans to show up like they did for Clemson. Once we are consistent in that, then game over.

His playbook is built for a packed Dome. I think he found his sweet spot. We didn't bring in these top recruits for him to leave them hanging. Sucks Hall jumped ship. Hope he rethinks, but all is well regardless.

Dino is in for the long haul. We just beat #2. We could be undefeated. I think we beat #8. The days of hoping for basketball are over.
Just curious...do you know this first hand or opinion?

Loved the show and now am worried about Dino's future at the CUSE. Pay him at least 4M and hope he stays and finishes job in CNY. Dino would be a perfect fit at either Tennessee or Ole Miss and pray that doesn't happen.

Perfect fit at either of those schools - how so? if they install turf?

Booger also probably thinks every big NBA free agent is going to the Lakers or Knicks every year. It ain’t the 90s anymore.

Syracuse gets the same league payouts as every other team in the ACC -
Clemson, FSU, Llvll, and The U, et al.

While there's no way we can win an arms race against Clemson or FSU, we can certainly hold serve against the rest of the league.
And that should be more than enough to hold onto Dino and crew for as long as they want to be here.

I can't speak for Clemson, but I can a bit on FSU in regards to how they recruit. Without divulging too much in an open forum, a family member of mine is kind of close with the family member of a former 5 star Army AA that committed to FSU in 2012. He was down to them and Tennessee. The kid was leaning towards Tennessee and ready to commit until the family member asked Tennessee "what they were offering". The response from the coach that was recruiting the player (I believe the coach was Robert Gillespie) was "a great education and the promise that your son will be a better man when he leaves Tennessee" or something along those lines. My family member was in the room during this exchange and was blown away, and VERY impressed with Gillespie. He ended up committing to FSU. This makes me feel terrible in a way for Butch Jones because he's running an honest program there in regards to recruiting. But as far as competing with FSU for the big recruits, this will never happen.

I think he said something Friday night to the effect that Syracuse is beautiful most of the year and in the few months that it's not, we stay inside.
Exactly. Someone needs to find the study that shows our winters are getting progressively warmer. Christ we just hit 80 degrees in the middle of October. We hit 76 degrees on Christmas Eve a few years back. And you know what? In the South it's beautiful in the winter and the few months that it's unbearably humid, they stay inside where there's air conditioning.

These kids aren't choosing schools because of the weather... ask kids that choose Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Oregon. It's who can get them drafted, and what they can offer in the mean time.

Dino's not really a kid though, is he?

Love me some Dino, hope he is here long term but I think we have one more year to really worry about him leaving, after next year I will really start to worry cause I think we tear it up next year. The short term worry for me after this year is Brian Ward, been really impressed with his job on the D and think he calls a very good game too, I would think someone in the MAC would look at him really hard.

We are in the fortunate position of having one of the very best coaches in the country. And along with him, the rest of the staff is top notch. When you are lucky enough to be in this situation, you do what it takes to keep what you have. I have faith that Wildhack understands this and will get the job done and keep Babers and Co. in Syracuse for years and years.

I've never known a Coach who says such glowing things about his current job to leave for another higher prestige, higher paying gig (sorry I forgot what the sarcasm font is).

I figured you would be happy with this? You know finally getting Dino out of here and bringing in a HC who knows something???? Or have you had a change of heart since week 2?
Touche' ......

Honestly, I knew this crap would start. If Booger or anyone else listened to Babers post game press conference, they would have heard not only what Dino thinks about the program, but the city and the area. And every time he talks about Cuse football he talks about being good for a "long time."

Honestly, go back to youtube, find the post game presser and listen to the whole middle portion of that press conference. He's getting $2 and a half million to be here. Can someone else offer $3.5, $4.5m? Sure. But we aren't paying peanuts. Some people in the media must believe Syracuse is in the MAC and can't offer anything. And some of our fans still continue to believe the same ...
I guess 20 years of deplorable football will break any fans rational. My mind is starting to defrag and hopefully I will get back to the joyful feelings of SU football from the 80's/90's when I felt they could beat any team.

Dino on Finebaum right now...

- Said pleasure to be on, if you are you did something really good or really bad
- Finished up interviews at 12:30am, flew down to recruit, then flew back for recruiting dinner and breakfast, then graded tape, and now getting to Miami breakdown
- Dungey is straw that stirs the drink
- Last year after Dungy went out they took out lots of plays in the playbook and went ofer november
- They are playing him like they want and are going to let the man upstairs do his thing (in regards to injury)
- Lots of respect for Dabo in letting him come to speak to team
- Miami is going to be difficult, best athletes in southern fla, Richt is fab coach, has been around, knows what hes doing. SU looking forward to it.
- Paul asks him what fried noodles are, Dino explains it starts as rahmen in college when you're poor, boil the noodles, fry the bologne and that was the meal. All this started when they were poor up and coming college coaches. Serve with 3 egg whites, and your favorite iced tea.

No better place for Dino's system than a very loud, domed stadium - fans and alumni that genuinely appreciate any positive progress in the football program after the last 19 years (not a win now or else mentality) - Syracuse is the best situation for him - bar none.

This. If we continue to compete with the top of the ACC - the dome will be a place *no one wins in* due to system and perfect conditions. There's a lot to be said for that advantage.

A couple of things.

First, I know we have been a shell of a program for a while and have thus fallen off the map putting faith in Dino to get us there.

Secondly, I also realize the cfb coaching carousel has changed and is even more cut throat than ever including being fascinated with getting ahead of the curve on playing style. Paired with this is the money game and needing to pay to play and keep the quality guys around.

With both of those points it certainly draws up some concern over keeping Dino.

With that said, the transition of Syracuse coaches has been either retirement, firing or a move to the NFL. We do not have a history of having coaches plucked by larger programs. Add that to the very salient point Dino made about not wanting to go to the NFL and then complementing the city and the potential of the loudhouse and I really think the writing is on the wall as long as we don't royally screw this up we should have our guy for a while. Dino is a smart guy and a movie guy- the NFL comment, knowing the programs history is a pretty solid clue if you are really paying attention.
