Dino Zoom Conference | March 30

I thought what Dino meant was actually to encourage his team to a degree. The 2019 team got stroked and parted on the back for a great 2018 season - different season, different team. I think he was saying that 2020 has nothing g to do with 2021 - again, different season different team. It's important for him to work on their heads that 2021 can be a good year regardless of 2020 went. These guys never quit last year so I'm hopeful with a more experienced full squad we will see some real improvement.

There’s not a complete accounting of the attrition since last season. The school has not released a 2021 roster. One player has been suspended indefinitely. Others have been away from the team for unspecified reasons, moved on or transferred out. The roster churn will continue into the summer, when the freshman class arrives on campus and other players transfer in and out.

Unbridled transfer rules expected to go into effect by the start of next season figure to impact football just as much as basketball. That’s part of the intrigue surrounding these 15 spring practices. Players will be competing for roles knowing that if they don’t like where they stand, they’ll be free to move on and very likely able to suit up next fall.
I keep seeing this pop up--

Is the NCAA really going to vote that no transfer will have to sit a year to play? I thought this was only going to apply to players that transfer this year. Will this be the perpetual rule going forward?

Permanent rule change.

FB, Hoops, Men's Hockey, and Baseball are currently the only NCAA sports that require you to sit a year.

All the other sports already allow an immediate transfer.

Insane. I can't imagine what this is going to do to college sports

It's only one time though. If you transfer a 2nd time, you sit out a year just like the old policy.

Obviously a tidal wave in college hoops right now, but as the years go by, I think it will start to become more strategic for the players, instead of a disgruntled way out. I'm sure there will be data showing that enough rushed decisions didn't pan out.

Yeah. There's gonna be a lot of bad decisions made.

Players already within programs cannot be recruited until they enter their name in the portal, correct?

I wonder if many will just realize they will not be recruited by the schools they are hoping for, and just withdraw their name. I haven't seen it work like that yet, though. 99% of time, if they enter the portal they are gone

The ACC voted to approve it. The Big 12 was supposed to vote Tuesday, but I can't find the result. The NCAA has yet to approve it, but is expected to when they meet after March Madness.

I believe your 2nd line is correct. And it's a good point, because you know there's some tampering going on. Those penalties need to be harsh, everything comes out at some point. It will help normalize the new process.

The ACC had a separate rule which required intra-conference transfers to sit an additional year on top of the NCAA mandated one year.

The ACC voted to get rid of that rule last month.

"Babers declined to say where the rest of the DBs were working, but noted that freshman Duce Chestnut made a nice play during his first college practice."

This is a really pleasant surprise given his Nose Tackle-ish level of speed. Must've been a really easy play ;)
Must have been quite the play. Dino doesn’t usually tip his cap to the newcomers this early.
