I would love to see McPhail. People will be ready for the 4th stringer in 5 minutes and then the 5th 5 minutes after that. Although I will still be rooting for Luke leading the team to 3 wins coming in and the "why was Luke 3rd string" discussions.
I honestly think both CRDW or Shrader will sit this week as they are both hurt, just guessing though
And then he gets right in Narduzzi's face yelling "Im him"I've already got this one teed up for when he completes his 2nd pass beyond the line of scrimmage. CDRW only completed one, unless you count the ones BC caught.
Then “you got no tape on me” and “Obama, baby” as he walks away.
Absolutely sure that this happened early in his tenure when Baylors O hadn’t been diagnosed fully yet and everyone wanted to know how it worked. Especially HS guys. That O helped teams really fight above their weight class, got Dino 3x HC jobs.Ya, coaches pretend like they know so much more than anyone else. Why bother with the facts.
My buddy is a western New York HS football coach. He follows Syracuse, but not closely. He despises Dino. Always tells a story of going to a coaching clinic. Trying to get better, pick up some helpful information from experienced coaches that do this for a living. He always tells this story of going to a clinic with Dino where other high school coaches were asking some questions and Dino kept responding with, well, I can’t really talk about that. He wouldn’t expand on anything and wouldn’t help any of the coaches, which is the entire point of a coaching clinic.
My buddy has been to a couple of these and has said how helpful coaches generally are. Everyone except for Dino who is too paranoid or maybe not smart enough to share any insight for these local high school coaches. It must have been bad because this guy doesn’t say anything bad or negative about anyone. And he just tears Dino apart any time I bring up the Syracuse program. Just a bad look all around. Why even show up if you’re not going to help. Not that we get much local talent from Buffalo area. But why would a coach help you or send players your way if you’re not going to help them out. Wonder if this happens elsewhere or has rubbed any other coaches the wrong way when their player is contemplating Syracuse.
Those clinics can be classic - many moons ago Chuck Amato talked about the D he ran at FSU. Of course key components were having DB's that ran 4.3 and could tackle. Not sure the small school HS coaches in attendance got a lot out of it.A

It ended up getting hoovered up into the CFB lexicon, figured out some, and broken down for parts. That’s why we don’t run it anymore.
I do think HC here should be 100 all in on helping HS coaches locally, but I wouldn’t expect him to give away competitive advantages. That’s the key component to your story - the “what” he was withholding is very important.
I'm not convinced that the offense has been diagnosed. We have had terrible o lines and QBs that can't get rid of the ball quick enough. Bad comboA

Plenty of Art Briles/ Texas HS guys from around those parts still scoring plenty of points. UTSA HC and Oregon's OC getting it done as well. I know Texas HS and Oregon.I'm not convinced that the offense has been diagnosed. We have had terrible o lines and QBs that can't get rid of the ball quick enough. Bad combo
Oklahoma looks pretty good with briles son in law running the offense with very efficient passing. I know, Oklahoma...
There is no offense that could succeed with some of the players we put out there. I care more about system than probably almost anyone but even I didn't think it's magic.Plenty of Art Briles/ Texas HS guys from around those parts still scoring plenty of points. I mean back in the day Chip Kelly was doing it at UNH but you need to hire the guy with the brains to adjust. Mike Bellotti was smart enough to hire him. Anybody whoever worked with Chip knew he was ahead of the game
Go find the right guy. I don't mind the line of thinking with hiring Dino AT ALL.. It didn't work but whatever move on and try again. It depends who you are listening to
I would also talk to Leipold's offensive coordinator, he's been with Lance for 12-13 years
I mean at the end of the day the offensive oriented coach we hired turned out he wasn't all that good. and I would have thought a true offensive coach would have taken over at least the play calling at some point. It's not always the best move but that's what so many coaches do when their side of the ball craps the bed. I don't think that was on the table when we hired the duo from UVA but maybe before he hired that clown from Texas, at least they could run the ball then. Who knows? The offense hasn't been diagnosed anymore than any other offense. Certainly not to the extreme of not being able to run it anymore. As with most good offense, you need a good line and a good QB.
Isn't this offense supposed to be heavily influenced by pre-snap reads? If you see this do that, and if you read this do that. So part of the problem might be you don't just need a good QB, you need a smart QB and you need smart WR's. Not book smart but high field IQ.
I think you're coming to same conclusion but are disagreeing on semantics. In general the offense that absolutely lit up CFB for 10 years with lesser OL and QB talent isn't an advantage anymore if you need great OL and QB talent to run it. The defense caught up.I'm not convinced that the offense has been diagnosed. We have had terrible o lines and QBs that can't get rid of the ball quick enough. Bad combo

He is a poor passer when hes healthy. Our conclusions are not even close
You're jumping to saying you need great OL and QB talent to run it
I'm saying our OL and QBs together would doom any system (devito would've been good with a great OL)
I didn't know why you're concluding you need great QB talent to run it
I think it's because you think shrader is good and I've caught a lot of flak over the years for saying he eats it all the time and isn't good at throwing it when he does
I’m not pro-Shrader at all. And the Baylor system was scrapped the year after Tommy took over. Our conclusions are not even close

i am not sure that you need a good OL. for a while there the OL was putrid (nothing against elmore but i remember saying wake me up next year in the summer when I saw him starting) and now i'd say we're merely bad on the line, average or horrible at qb depending on health, and bad at WR. 2018 wasn't that long agoI’m not pro-Shrader at all. And the Baylor system was scrapped the year after Tommy took over.
The Baylor system allowed you to punch above your weight class *when* you didn’t have a great OL *and* a great QB. It stopped working *everywhere* just about the time it stopped here. Elements of it live on and are everywhere, like all good offenses. But the advantage that allowed you to punch above is gone. Now you need a good OL and or a good QB. The best teams have both.

part of what made it successful was the width of the the offense made it very easy to read the defense.I completely disagree with this. The Baylor offense was smoke and mirrors. It was based on speed and simplicity. No huddle while being able to substitute. And reads based on what the defense did. If they loaded the box they threw the ball wide or deep over the middle. If they played deep and a light box. They ran the ball up the middle. The speed wore the defense down and they couldn’t keep up.
The NCAA implemented a new substitution rule that prevented the offense from going no huddle and subbing without allowing the defense to match. That was the biggest change to this offensive system.
Bottom line, coaches in college that are paid millions of dollars to scout and disssect this offense, knew everything that Dino could have and should have shared. It’s not a top secret. You can see everything on game film. That’s all college coaches do. High school coaches are not afforded that ability, as high school coaches have a career and do the coaching on the side. Anything he would have shared at this meeting, would not have been this earth shattering trade secret your making this out to be.
I do not have a timeline though. Not exactly sure when this conference took place.

I was actually waiting for you to do that, I hear an echo and can I get an ameni'm waiting for dino to take his phone out and just starting thumbing thru during the questions.
that cat seems so disconnected to this job and university to this observer. he knows he gone.
I was there too. It was a lovely day/evening but an awful game to watch as a Cuse fan.I was at the Pitt game last year. It’s not one outing. He’s not a good quarterback
Not high enough.Coming in number one on the hot seat per old man Mike Farrell https://t.co/QdZoML6FLe
