Dino's Presser after BC

Reading that there are a number of BC boosters etc who aren't happy with Addazio (are there that many and do they have big $) that think this was THE year he needed to excel since with grad losses, they don't think the future is looking very good. BC hasn't offered him an extension like they did Christian for basketball and with a new AD Jarmond from Ohio State, they believe Addazio had a short lease to prove himself this season and failed. They are hoping that Addazio is paid off for his remaining 2 years and that Ryan Day from Ohio State who has coached at BC under a number of coaches (O'Brien, Jagodzinski, Spaziani etc) plus was at Ohio State when Jarmond was there, will be named their new coach. They believe that SU's beatdown of BC will force the rumored change.

Man, I sure hope not. I want The Dazzler to do just well enough to keep his job.

His presser did sound a great deal like a job interview to me. He kept repeating that they are on the right track, did not play with their best players due to injury, and had a lot of talent coming back.

After reading their board, BC fans seem to understand that the Dazzler has reached his ceiling and that they should fire him because it is very likely this is his peak. But firing coaches making bowl games at Boston College even with pillow soft schedules is tough to do. The problem for them is they are at a point(2 years left on the deal) where you have to extend or fire him. Hopefully for us they throw a fat extension out there soon and he coaches there a long time.

Tell me he looks like someone who isn't having fun being the HC at Syracuse and waking up the sleeping giant.

This is a place he can rewrite history and has the chance to legitimately win and get to the CFP.

I'm telling you, he's not going anywhere.

I agree but Dino brings a ton of stuff that a lot of these coaches don’t, he’s different and obviously not going unnoticed, somebody is going to make a serious run at him, not only this year but next as well, if he’s here in 2020 than yeah. I agree he’s not going anywhere and I hope that you are right. I do think he really likes it here but will that be enough

Bc would be dumb to fire Dazler. He’s done a good job, recruits well. Ryan Day seems like he would be a great fit there though and he seems to be the hot commodity and he has the right pedigree but man do I hate the thought of hiring a HC with no experience. Weird that he worked for Addazio for 4 years as well.

I really enjoy Dino's pressers and love having him as the football coach. All I can do is go to the games and yell when the other team has the ball...other than that it's out of my control so I choose to just enjoy the ride while it lasts. If it ends after 2018 or runs to 2030 it's up to him and the University on the Hill.

I'd like to know what this injury is that Dungey had. Dino said he has had it and tough guys like Eric usually only effect a day. Kinda strange.

And Eric seemed to play better yesterday than before his injury. Is this an injury that has bothered him all season and he just didn't want to get it treated. Maybe like a cyst on his back or something.

Maybe just getting some rest for his beat up body helped? Invigorated him a bit, maybe?

Just guessing but it looked a lot like Sciatica to me and from some of the other much much more educated board members.

Maybe I needed to add another "much" to the above statement.

That's what it looked like but feel recovery would have been longer. 2-3 weeks at earliest. But it seems like Eric was fine on Wednesday... Not even half a week.

For sure. He's an asset by how likable he is with all of his media appearances. Any school, I'd imagine, would be thrilled if he were their HC. Lots of money and perky offers will tossed his way like a salt lick.

The strength for Syracuse is that he gets to be the one that salvaged the once-proud and mighty program. He has no true pressure here to constantly win 10-12 games/year here. I think he could get there, but the admin will not be calling for his head if he's going 8-4 or 9-3. He's 57, does he want to rebuild another program at this point? Maybe, but not sure why. He's going to get his deal restructured and there will be more money to toss around by the SUAD with the new ACCN and the bowl revenue. Slightly increased attendance this year will help, too. I'd imagine season ticket sales will see an uptick before next season when we're ranked preseason Top 25, too. We play in a controlled climate, he has a good relationship with Wildhack, on the verge of nice facility improvements, etc.

As much as it's easy to see him leaving, I also think Syracuse offers him some very attractive perks. "Don't fix it if it ain't broke."

Close your eyes and just listen to Addazio and he sounds like a slightly more eloquent Pasqualoni doing a presser. But he's got the same voice, cadences, expressions ("okay?" at the end of each sentence). It's uncanny.

That personality should be a huge plus when he's schmoozing a room of big donors. Those donors have to step up. I think that's the last remaining challenge. Everything else is in place. Stable conference for the foreseeable future with a path to the CFP, tv exposure/money, and Dome retrofit. The donors have to respond. Marrone didn't like recruiting but he also hated begging these guys to get him what he needed.

Hey I’m all in and hope to hell you are right.

Announced was 34k out of the 44k it sits. The side opposite TV crews was pretty full between the numbers. I’d say 30k actually there was a legit number with about a third of that being Syracuse fans. Strong showing by the Orange fans. Loud and proud.
On tv I heard “Lets Go Orange!”, all throughout the second half. Reminded me of when we beat NC State in Raleigh about five years ago. I was at that game and couldn’t believe the number of Cuse fans there.

Lots of stories like these, which makes the "do not travel" noise we hear around bowl time baffling to me.

Interesting that Dino says unequivocally at end that Dunge is destined for bigger things and will be deffo playing on Sundays.

It's ironic how many program's fans suddenly say they want Dino or their own hopeful Dino lite coach.

On TV, it looked less than half full...
By the 2nd Q it was 80% full. but about 35% SU fans. By the way that "little crip"

I think the "do not travel" noise is tough to really measure. In NC, Charlotte area, there are many relocated fans already down here for various reasons. There are also quite a few in the Raleigh area as well. So, they really don't have to "travel" that far depending on where exactly.

I went to the Wake game a few weeks back in Winston Salem and it was loaded with 'Cuse fans. We made the trek up from Charlotte, roughly 100 miles, so no big deal. Also, there are many 'ol Syracusans that reside in Florida permanently or snowbirds, so same thing in regards to travel. This is really the case up and down the East coast for the most part.

Since Syracuse is relatively a smaller private vs. state school, but bears the city's name, so many of its fans are from the Syracuse area, or have ties to Central NY that are not actual alumni. It's a huge contingent of Syracuse's fan base.
