Dion officially gone

Dion i love you man, and we all know you were going pro

But you couldnt have waited a week . Two days after we are eliminated

Funny. I thought the exact opposite.

44cuse

Why bring that up we will be okay. As many people on this board have said aside from Fab, everybody else on the team are good students

So stop trying to stir up trouble
You, once again, don't know what you are talking about.

It doesn't matter if he's a good student. He's most likely now going to spend all his time in the gym, probably somewhere else besides Syracuse, to refine his game. He will fail all his classes, and leave in bad standing, costing us 2 points in the APR. This, combined with Fab leaving, has the potential to put us below the minimum score and giving us a tourney ban like UConn.

Off the top of my head; Wes Johnson was the last player to leave early, I think since him everyone has been in good standing except (assuming) Fab and Dion; not sure what Mookie's situation is.

Although the way Boehiem attacked the APR after the UNCA game it didn't give me the most confidence in the world

3 guys in the backcourt now if Mookie doesn't come back...We get one injury and C.J. might be playing guard.

This quote bothers me.

"I want to thank my coaches and my teammates. I've had an amazing experience at Syracuse University."

Guess he's not planning to stick around to finish out the semester.....another body blow to the APR. Someone ought to call Mitch Barnhart and find out how their guys manage to finish their semester.

I don't fault Dion, I fault the APR.

You really expect him not to work on his game 24/7 in preparation for the workouts/drills just so he can take 4 meaningless classes so our APR doesn't take a hit? It's a 100% waste of his time to finish up this year academically.

Wes actually did what players should do and finished his grades. Not sure how you ignore Eric and Paul from that season, though. They will continue to kill us for a few more years.

Devendorf and Harris enver played with Wes.

I don't know the numbers off hand, but I'd guess most players that leave early don't stick around for classes; and frankly, neither would I.

Good luck to him. I don't think he'll ever do much in the NBA though.

Wasn't Wes like a Redshirt junior though? Did he end up graduating even though he technically left early since he was in school for 4 years?

Can't believe I didn't realize this. Yeah you're right.

Yes, Wes finished his work for his degree.

Ok well the difference was Wes was 4 classes (or whatever it was) away from a degree and Dion still had 2 more years...

Wes was taking classes last summer and in the fall during the lockout, to finish up his classwork. I'm not sure if he has his degree yet.

Never said they should continue to go to class. I just said he's going to hurt our APR.

glad he said it now as opposed to donte green and flynn egging us on. dion, we love u and wish u all the best!!!!!

Yeah because i am shaking in my boots, as another poster alluded to Kentucky keeps posting those passing APR scores like i believe that

As for Dion best of luck dude no hard feelings

Dion was fun as hell to watch this year. Go get that money kid!

Would you rather him wait giving you increasing hope that he might return only to have him declare anyway?
did you participate in any "next year" posts? If so, isn't that hypocritical?

I figured he was gone. I just hope he waits to sign with an agent so he can change his mind if he starts hearing bad news. Everyone's a hero until the scouts start dissecting them. Are we gonna start hearing that he's too short to play the two and teams don't know if he has the mindset to play the one? Do we start hearing that he's great going to the basket, but he shot below 40% from the college line and never demonstrated NBA range? I'm not saying this is going to happen, just that there's no reason for haste and it's in his best interest to leave his options open. I don't think any underclassman should sign with an agent until they have to.

Can he withdraw from his classes still this late in the semester and not technically fail?

Like people have said, you don't know what you are talking about. Depending on what happened with Riley and Mookie, and depending on Fab's status, we absolutely could be in the same boat UConn is in 2014. I'm not saying we will, but we easily could. Our 2009 score was awful; refer to Kentucky all you want, and maybe they are getting around it, but the fact is they are. I'm talking about the scores we have in the books.

you dont need to finish spring courses to not have an effect on the APR. it really comes down to what summer work he did the last two years. he is a 2nd year student doesnt that just mean he has to have completed like X number of credits thru 4 semesters.. you could do enough course work in one year and not do anything the 4th semester and be ok.
