Director of Athletics John Wildhack's letter to Orange student-athletes

The problem is that for the last decade or two, in order to drive ratings, EVERYTHING has been the literal end of the civilization: other viruses, global warming, stock market crashes, Republican presidents, storm-a- gendons, etc. It's the chicken little effect.

I think you're describing the "boy who cried wolf" effect.

I was speaking with an "older" friend of ours today and he told me he had been outside working on a bed for a vegetable garden and wondered if I had started on mine yet. All I could think was victory gardens are making a come back.

I just wish we had the recipe of moonshine that the state of West Virginia is clearly using to total ZERO cases so far. Whose couch do I need to throw in the street to get a taste? They are pioneers to the world.

Just go buy some in the liquor store.

Do some research and see what’s happened in Italy

80+ year old people dying. That's just nature, no matter how cold it sounds.

However, if you wanna freak out about it, enjoy.

If everyone in America stayed home for a month straight this thing would be gone the next day.

Now obviously that’s not feasible, But we need to get as close As that gold standard as possible to shorten the duration as much as possible

Don’t even think it’d take a month.
2 solid weeks would do the trick.

Those that are sick, have to remain in quarantine until 14 days after they were first symptomatic.

Everybody else - back to life as normal.

All much easier said than done though.

bcubs not trusting the advice of medical experts?

By far there are more deaths from the seasonal flu. Read the CDC numbers. It's not even close.

So why not shut down everything from October through April for the seasonal flu? Medical experts say that the elderly with preexisting respiratory problems are at most risk of death and not the entire population.

It’s not just people dying it’s having our hospitals overrun beyond their capacity. So ridiculous not to take this seriously

Same people who still go to the bar, gym, work, etc. when they have a cold and are contagious - hacking away, touching everything, etc. Just selfish and clueless.

370,000 to 670,000 flu hospitalizations. We don't need to shut down the economy over the coronavirus while we pay no attention to an illness with far more deaths and hospitalizations.

You mean, like, in the SW where health care and school systems have been overloaded since, well, forever?

Tx is the same; fluids, NSAIDs, rest, and stay the hell at home if you're sick.

And, I'd bet dime to a dollar that CV-19 has been in the states longer than we know.

China & Russia must be salivating at how easy it is to panic us.
And every other country. Italy and Spain and France. Just maybe, this is a real virus. We have people that actual do this stuff for a living and actual know things. Then of course, we have some people who think they are a lot smarter than they really are

What’s a victory garden?

Prudent and wise is one thing, freaking the @#$@ out over something like this is @#$@ stupid.

I work in healthcare. The concern is reaI for the elderly and immunosuppressed. I thought this was a very good article to help people understand the urgency of what is taking place and what could be seen here in the next 6-8 weeks if not taken seriously. Hopefully all the hysteria will be for naught, but please take this seriously.

My Dads 86. Still climbs with me. When you are 80 i hope that you dont have someone like yourself making decisions relative to your health and well being.

I won't. Nor would I force someone, via the government, to pay for it. For your dad, mine, or myself.
