Do we keep our D-Coordinator......

What can be lost in a lot of this is if the MAC fires a HC or loses a HC to greener pastures. Just sayin'

I work from home and use a laptop, there is no way to swim when your hands and feet are shackled.

Until you get the key, yer screwed.
Okay then. Don't adapt, then get fired.

Unless the budget is opened up for him to go get a proven guy who can make an immediate impact (Ted Roof type), you probably just stick with the plan.

just find 2 safeties who can see the field and run.. we compounded the issues by always reacting to the play and being a step slow.. we need someone who anticipates a few plays a game.

I also think the injury excuse is a cop-out, as we've had relatively very few injuries this year and other teams we've played recently have lost their best Defensive Players (WF-Bates, Ejiofor, BC-Landry). Think Slayton is the only guy on the DL whose name I heard yesterday doing anything and even he missed a couple of sacks.
You might want to re-watch the last few games and look at how many guys were out (Robinson this week) or were wrapped up in tape or braces on legs, shoulders, arms, etc. that weren't there in the beginning of the season. This D was terribly banged up and without quality depth the margin for error is zero.

If you are going to play this system you need the right (healthy) athletes as 1s and 2s, and we just don't have it right now.

I sit a bit above SU's bench and Slayton was limping coming to the sideline bench throughout the game. Made me wonder how many of those kids were injured, dinged up badly but still playing. Then I thought how sad it if an injured key player is that much better than a physically able backup or are our 2 deep players injured too?

injuries breed injuries.. you have less dline guys the ones who play need to play more and thus get injured and nicked more.. we had to play our 2 LBs every snap and by the end they were not making plays.. We had 2 corners left we trusted so they started being a step slow. we had no safeties we trusted and plays were missed over and over. our talent is not elite so our drop is even faster..

it would not surprise me though that we have 6-7 DBs who didnt see the field between the RS and the FR that will be upgrades in size and speed next year. you need 4 corners and 4-5 LBs, to survive and at least 3 safeties. we finished with 2 corners and some beat up safeties and LBs.. is it no wonder they big plays went up the last 3 games.

Unless we can get pressure rushing 3, the T2 will never work in our division of the ACC. So, if we stick with it, we better get stud DL/DE's. Not sure thats in our near future.

I hate T2.

Given our opponents the last three games were the worst stretch of defensive play in the history of college football. More of a problem that injuries. I am fine with Ward coming back but his leash should be extremely short.

Thing is, these guys all seem like a package deal, a cult. Dino apparently sought out this whacky defensive scheme thinking it was most compatible with his fast offense. Notice there hasn't been much fast talk lately and the T2 has given up more chunk plays than any aggressive blitzing scheme. There are plenty of coaches running high tempo systems in the country and still using attacking defensive schemes.

TCU raises their hands.

I would be very surprised if Dino doesn't bring him back. Seems to be very loyal to his assistants. Having said that, I think our Defense the last 3 games is the worst I can remember. The scores are even misleading, as Louisville and BC called off the dogs in both games in the 2nd half. I do think our Defense was tired, but I believe a big part of that was not rotating the 2's more, like Shafer used to do (again I wanted Shafer gone, but i don't remember the Defense collapsing like ours has 2 years in a row at the end). I am also frustrated by the lack of adjustments on Defense, as it seemed we were beaten by the same play over and over in these games against teams with similar talent (QB run against WF, Bootleg against BC). We made WF and BC look like Offensive dynamos. I also think the injury excuse is a cop-out, as we've had relatively very few injuries this year and other teams we've played recently have lost their best Defensive Players (WF-Bates, Ejiofor, BC-Landry). according to the injury report we had very little but it was plain as day that a lot of starters on defense were banged up though not listed on the injury report from the fsu game on

Our defense looked very slow and tentative the last three games. It was almost like Cam Akers just scared the crap out of Ward and he went into a total reactive shell. I know injuries may have hurt tackling, but schematically, they just slowed down and left gaps all over the field.
