I miss playing SU. Easy road trip up I-81. Miss meeting many of you in the Fine Lot. Miss Dinosaur BBQ. Miss sitting in the rafters of the Carrier Dome, which is a fantastic place to be. Hate that we're not in an eastern conference, but thankful that we're not knashing our teeth.

I truly do miss playing Rutgers and listening to their absolutely delusional fans.

For me, Rutgers was like that piece of gum that gets stuck to the bottom of your shoe. You continue walking and stomping all over it, but it just won't go away. It gets dirtier and dirtier by the day until it mixes in with some dogshitt to form one super-shitty compound.

I do miss our playing days though. Would love to open or end the season with them every year.

I don't miss it much but I would not mind a game every 4 years or so.

I do.

But only because I would like us to be able to directly contribute to the collapse of that house of cards.

I do, and an annual series makes sense on so many levels. Rivalry aside its a P5 non-conference game teams are looking for. It's also not a clear W or L. I'd like to keep the bragging rights/recruiting rivalry going. I know a lot of people are over the Rutgers thing, but personally I am not. They are still the team I'd want to beat annually, more than any ACC team I can thing of (ok, FL St or Clemson win would be pretty cool).

NO.
I danced a jig the day the new broke that SU was moving to the ACC. Part of that was the almost absolute certainty that we would no longer play Rutgers or UConn in any sport.

Not Rutgers, specifically.

It is a shame that college programs of the northeast could never get their act together enough to support a viable conference.

It's remarkable that each all-sports school in the northeast was valuable enough to warrant poaching by other conferences, but together they could never extract that same value.

And its unfortunate that the hoops schools could never wrap their heads around the notion that they were more valuable when associated with football-playing schools than apart from them.

So it's a bummer that for our long-term survival we had to associate with a conference who's center is in North Carolina instead of one who's center is NYC.

But no, not Rutgers specifically.

I don't. But I miss seeing you Al. :)

As to the topic, yes and no. It would be nice to play a reasonably close P5 matchup but most of the recent games had been rock fights that neither fan base really enjoyed.

I miss how it livens up this board like no other team.

But other than that, not really. My trips to New Brunswick, win or lose, haven't been all that memorable.

No thanks. If I want to hear delusional Rutgers fans all I have to do is open my door at work.

Not really.

I miss a true longtime rival - West Virginia

But, I am very pleased that we get to play longtime rivals BC, Pitt and MD every year.

And we get to play less often, Va Tech and Miami.

Rutgers was never a big draw for me. The game became a pain because losing to the Knights or not destroying them became a referendum on our coaching staff - that became old. And I didn't like the way Schiano publicly bad-mouthed the Carrier Dome.

But, I guess I have to thank him for that - the 0ld AstroTurf was finally replaced.

But other than that, no, I don't miss RU.

Most definitely.

Can't see any reason to go to Pitt to see a half empty stadium and BC is always Thanksgiving weekend.

In other words, not a road trip within 9 hours of my house.

Scratch MD off - they are Midwestern team now.

Also kinda weird when people who love to wax poetic about tradition talk of Miami and VaTech...teams we really only started playing regularly in 1992.

I do. Closest thing we have to an equal football rivalry where both teams and fan based can't stand each other.

I died inside a little to see a fellow SU fan consign the team to some kind of equivalence with Rutgers. There might have been some kind of back and forth between the two fan bases on the interwebs but there was really no energy for this supposed rivalry for the casual Syracuse fan. I live in Jersey City and I NEVER considered taking the train to New Brunswick to see us play Rutgers...I might have if I didn't mind encountering a bunch of delusional schmucks. Taking the trips to BC will fill my yearning for a rivalry and one that is actually historical.

BC might get close but there's no real bad blood lately. They were the only fan base in the ACC excited to have us from a football standpoint.

But even our longstanding rivals don't really care about us. Penn State? Right. We're to them what Seton Hall is to us. We are no better than Pitt's 3rd most important rival. Same with WVU.

Rutgers could have been a great regional rival but somehow fans of a program that has absolutely sucked for the majority of the last fifteen years thinks they're too good for Rutgers.
