Do you remember when Syracuse won the national championship?

I had the flu with a fever of 103. Watched the first half. I had to lie down at halftime and fell asleep. Woke up to watch the last 4 minutes.
Took my three kids out of school. I’d gone in 87, and Atlanta and Houston. Had to fly to Jackson Miss and drive it. After i so wanted to head to Bourbon st but I had three kids 13 and under in tow. Our family talks about the magic of 4/7/03 all the time.

I was in 6th grade. At halftime of the OSU game, I decided to go out and shoot hoops in the driveway. Couldn’t watch.

Ended up doing the, ‘if I make a 3, a FT, a layup, a lefty layup, etc., in a row, Syracuse will come back’ thing. I was never much of a basketball player, but I’d complete whatever the challenge was and decide it wasn’t enough and do another challenge. It was never ending. Eventually, my dad called me back into the house and said I’m going to want to watch the end of the game. Glad he did.

It wasn’t crazy cold outside but I remember my hands being cold from my missed shots rolling into what was left of the snow (country kid in tug hill; snow took a while to melt).

Vividly!
I was so nervous I could only watch ncaa games alone with my11 year old son. Well, my good friends, knowing what a cuse fan I was, reserved a section in a local sports bar (Ozzie's in St. Louis where I watched many a cuse game) for about 10 of us. Unbeknownst to us, the local Kansas alumni group took over the entire bar exempt for my small group. I was so nervous I was pacing like an expectant father and actually couldn't watch the last 3-point attempt after Hakim's block. When I heard groan of the bar I finally looked up and lo and behold, we'd reached the promised land. PS I graduated from cuse in 75 and never thought we'd get there. I was higher than a kite for months/years thereafer...

I was in DC for some horrible business conference, en route to London for more business and to run the marathon there.

Wound up in some random bar and what I really remember is being on the floor doing the turtle after the buzzer while a bunch of people who were not Orange fams stared at me in horror.

I was in Jeff City that weekend for work. Loved every minute of it.
