Doc Gross will be on espncny.com @ 3:30

Keeps repeating moving as fast as he can. Mentions how he loved the defense against WVU. Likes the offense because of the way it's run.

Sounds like he wants to do what he can to keep both Shafer and Hackett.
Beat me to it

Can't give message to recruit because of recruiting violations possibility.

they ask him what he would say to recruits. Says that he doesn't think he can talk to recruits because it might be a ncaa violation then proceeds to talk anyway.

External candidates: No particular mentions, but says a lot of people are obviously interested. Says school is attractive right now.

Says no particular issue, but had frustrations. Says that Marrone was disappointed that some people wouldn't get behind team.

Who specifically ? Time to name names Doc.

Said it was a message to everyone...

Rah-Rah... TGD certainly spinning this to the positive...

Sounds like Schafer and/or Hackett are primary... talking about stability, stability, stability...

says they are great candidates and will of course get serious consideration and gave them both mad props for tactics and execution... also said that this search is very late in the game...

(for recruits)... stressed that the program is in a positive position with serious momentum - play fun, play fast, play attractive... only great things to come...

Won't tip hand to any other candidates, but that there are a lot of tenured coaches calling in and inquiring...

It's all roses, baby!

On Tressel: "Loaded question" won't comment, then comments about how great he was at Youngstown St and respects him.

If its Shafer or Hackett I'd bet we know by tomorrow. The longer it goes the less likely its internal. Might as well wait a day or 2 to see if Cowher or Gruden happen to call in!

Gross said that nothing can compete with the NFL... What happened with Chip Kelly?

Syracuse is not a final stop, Oregon w/ Nike money is.
The sooner the fan base can accept that, the better,
The football team is not the basketball team.

Gave props to the "D" in the Pinstripe. Gotta be Shafer.

Don't read too much into that. I'm sure both Hackett and Shafer, if they don't accompany Doug, will get interviewed. Why wouldn't you, they're already there, they're both doing a great job. Give them their chance to sell themselves.

But external hires will be considered. Maybe we don't have to ask Neinas, because of the calls he received. He's not selling the same job he did 4 years ago. It's a winning team coming off a bowl game and headed to the ACC. I'm sure most candidates know that there's a good base of players to work with, and they would be confident enough that they can take it from there.

Did he say the assistant coaches were "beautiful" or "dutiful"? Near splurted my coffee all over my desk.

LOL, a listener wrote it that if he became coach he would placate Syracuse fans by banning runs on first down, no passes under 20 yards and two incompletions gets the QB an immediate benching. Okay, which poster submitted that?

Agree - posted this tongue in cheek... just ironic that he said it in general as if you don't have a chance to keep anyone from going to the NFL. Really see the whole interview as trying to do damage control. Not a terrible interview...

Gross could speak to recruits if he appointed himself to the coaching staff in the interim. That's what Pernetti at Rutgers did.
