Does Brent Axe Have a point?

Never met the guy but his puzzlement at what went on with Carney is shared by literally dozens of posters here. I actually deleted my initial post and won't be replying further since I won't be arguing with someone who's immature at best.
Please by all means whatever you would like, and this certainly has nothing to do with Carney, I so wish he stayed as he is a tremendous athlete and seemingly very importantly a tremendous kid with a good family, that is what I look at first. You would or should not even be here If you cannot play football nevertheless sometimes at this level and position especially early on developmental flaws come out which is actually completely normal. Very sad that he was put in this position, Certainly a lot went down in relation to why he was put in this position, none of it malicious, Not a lot of options if you know what I mean. Concerning your defense once again this has nothing to do with Carney and his article is actually as stated filled with some actual truth and certainly indefinitively fiction from a sensationalist drama click baiting approach. And that is what he is while always laying blame without knowing all of the facts. I honestly would call myself to a degree a vested resource most importantly as it relates to college athletics, the integrity that we attempt to instill and certainly the goodness of the coaches attempting to do that while playing a sport. This gentleman is the antithesis of goodness and you can take that in any way you like. He is a vulture, He was actually quite easy on Jim Arthur Boeheim in a lot of ways a little ramped up certainly at the end and a lot of it massive amounts of truth. He however knew where the butter was coming from and he to a degree be real light for him concerning this situation nevertheless with others he has not in a very foul way. I think he should be removed as he is not objective nor consistent with journalistic principles of previous times. He fits right in. That's it for me

This is journalism in a nutshell - sensationalism sells.
Correct. There is almost zero true local reporting after the death of the physical newspaper. Syracuse.com is nothing but a money grab that focuses on getting parents of high school athletes to subscribe to see their child in some ridiculous preseason posed photo. "See who is the best point guard in games played on a Tuesday in Section 3."

Go to the archives page of the Post-Standard or Herald-American to see what we have become.

Axe has said some of the most homer things I’ve heard about Syracuse sports. He typically seems to really love the team and covering it. He’s not for everyone but if you’re taking away that he’s just overly negative about our programs then I don’t think that’s remotely accurate.

May I suggest maybe start your own talk show rather than bemoaning this man? These days it’s literally free to start your own YouTube channel. If you know the secret sauce to great sports talk then go out and make it happen. Go get rich off your ideas.

A word of advice, don’t try your hand at getting paid for the written word until you figure out what a paragraph is.

After forcing myself to read Axe’s column on Luke Carney’s impending transfer, I struggle to understand Mr. Axe value in the local scheme of sports reporting.
Axe continues to report in a negative way, looking for the sensational and negative aspects of SU football and hoops over a realistic analysis. This reporting also Carrie’s negativity in almost every story.
Case in point - Luke Carney entering the transfer portal. Axe implies this is a major loss for the Orange. He states Carney is a 4 time Texas high school champion, and he was behind a walk on in the depth chart.
Well Brent, maybe there is a reason he played minimally. Also his redshirt question is a non factor. If the SU coaches thought for one minute he could help the team in the emergency that was the latter part of the season, they would have used him. And if Brent researched the Texas championship resume of Carney, he would have stated Carney was in a league of schools the size of Tully on Onondaga. Although he did well, he was in a tiny school, and probably would have not played in a larger league.
The point is we never see positivity from Axe. Also, stories are skewed to his hate agenda.
Maybe this stems from his radio show firing or his humbling rebukes that Jim Boeheim used to pound him with.
Brent, try another type of reporting, like food or something. Nobody likes your current role.
Axe writes what people click on. When the teams struggle, negative stories get reactions. And in all honesty, Fran handled the QB situation about as poorly as he could. If he truly believed Collins was the best player, he should’ve left him out there. When he started thinking twice about it, he inserted Luke and never let him throw, claiming he “didn’t know the play book” which seemed like a weak but believable excuse until he trotted out a walk on lacrosse player at QB who looked clueless each and every play. It is almost impossible for an outside observer to take Fran at his word when he claimed that not only did Filardi magically learn the playbook over night, but that he was also better than anyone else in the room. It’s just not realistic. So what happened there? It’s worth exploring.

As for Luke’s high school career, if his stats and performance were padded by playing at a small school the: 1) why did we give him a scholarship, and 2) how was Filardi any different?

Without seeing him actually get to compete in a game we are stuck between Luke was either just that bad, or Fran is just that clueless. Considering the embarrassing level to which Rickie was a miss, most fans likely side with fran being that clueless.

So why did he wrote the story? Because that’s the story the staffs decisions set up.

I said nothing about losses so not sure what you are driving at. I’m just merely saying the following a.) that article highlights nothing more than what is discussed here or even Facebook groups b.) with access to Fran why hasn’t he asked direct questions to get to the bottom of the situation? This is especially relevant since people pay him for the same level of access I get for free here, on twitter or Facebook. I don’t have an issue with negative reporting … it’s the reporting with no substance other than what everyone already knows. He has access so why not ask the questions? His reporting is mediocre at best that is my only point.
He did an ask a question after the Duke game (i believe) and then again after UNC, the answers are available in the press conference archives and they were terrible. He can only ask the questions. Frankly, axe is the only left who asks anything other than softball b.s.

I stand by everything I said from a pretty clear perspective I might say just because he’s your buddy makes no difference to me, but I certainly have nothing against you. You Willey by all means you can believe what you want and I will know what I know. And speaking the truth, our goodness integrity is certainly not cheap your connotation points directly to your character, and certainly what I stated before.
For being a holy roller, you are awfully judgemental of others for having a differing opinion.

I will definitely defend good, It's certainly much easier when you care about the people you are defending from people such as this, Especially when you know what is right. And I certainly am not the judge for sure, nothing but the best and thank you
