I think you answered your own question. Boehiem would speak differently about Roberson if he were fighting through an injury.
There has been a lot of talk on this board about Roberson's feelings (and how Boeheim's words make him feel) but not nearly enough talk about Roberson's play, which to me is extremely worrying.
One of the reasons I have said SU will be a national championship contender next year is that I expected Roberson to be a 10 & 10 guy who plays solid defense and shoots around 50% from the field.
Two things about his play lately scare me. First, he has fallen apart defensively. There is no reason for a junior with his obvious athletic gifts to suddenly fall apart defensively in the middle of the season.
Second, his terrible play comes directly on the heel of the best stretch in his career. I had assumed things were falling into place for Roberson. That kind of up and down inconsistency worries me when its anything other than shooting.
If we can't rely on Roberson to be a force defensively and on the boards next year, then we are a much worse team. I am 100% sure Boeheim knows this and is trying his best to fix it, but ultimately its on Roberson. In my mind, next year's team has one more question mark than I thought it had a couple weeks ago.
