At the very least, we can see a vision on defense, unlike the past two seasons. If there is a tough game or two, the first two games are something for the team and fans to point to regarding how to play defense.

SU is #1 in team defense. Caveats be damned, who ever thought we’d see this at any point in any season.

houstn, uconn, duke, clemson all also in the top 10...which lends a bit of credence to this small sample size at least being measured accurately

I am too scared to embrace this because I have immediate flashbacks to Syracuse Football who had the #1 defense when it switched to the 3-3-5 and wound up that year like 100th…

One interesting result from yesterday (and yes, acknowledged caveat that depaul is probably terrible)- Buffalo clobbered DePaul at DePaul...

DePaul isn’t good but nice win for Buffalo.

Kenpom is based on a mix of historical last year data through December I think. So likely they're using their end of last year rank as prob 80% and new games 20%. So figure when teams get to closer to 10-15 games it will be all current year data. Also gotta keep in my opponent efficiencies and strength too which is part of the calculation.
