Wouldn’t it be great if Petar announces the big guy from France is going to join him at SU next year.
Good work Donna
As a veteran and a person of good character, he should lead as team captain, not as the go to guy and leader in minutes.JJ is 100% the type of guy that needs to just let the game come to him. We suffered when the other 4 guys on the court just gave him the ball and said do something 5 possessions in a row. He also needs to spend more time on the bench in my opinion when the shot isn't there or he's getting exposed on Defense.
There was really one play that really killed me even if it never really mattered in the context of the season. Down in Blacksburg, He launched that terrible 3 then got the bail out foul, I think it was a tie game. He missed all 3 foul shots. My confidence in him really went out the window.
I'm glad he's back but mostly because we know we got them both and early on. I worry about putting too much team leadership on JJ's shoulders, I'm not sure that's his game and it doesn't need to be. He just needs to be consistent.
So someone assumed and never talked to Petar himself about his plans.

This is an indictment of the whole program Again! So someone assumed and never talked to Petar himself about his plans.
and by someone, I’m talking about a university employee.
Always somethingThis is an indictment of the whole program Again!
At least they spelled his name correctlyPeter Moore told her then retracted it.
Wemebemyama to Syracuse?!Wouldn’t it be great if Petar announces the big guy from France is going to join him at SU next year.
Based on what I’ve heard about White, if he can play defense, rebound and bring us a presence maybe similar to what Roberson brought, I think we might see a lot of of Freeman at the three. That gives us two players that can play the three, and three that can play the four. He can shoot, and if he shoots 33-35% from the arc, he creates a matchup problem. I like his game a lot, but he is a finesse player at this point. Not sure he’s best suited for the four until he gets more physical. This is great. But is Petar not coming back then?

I think motivate is the key here. When we were facing the end of our season against Florida State, I saw 30 minutes of defense like I had not seen all year. Guys were noticeably fighting through screens harder, switching better and just giving overall better effort. It needs to be stressed more for sure..These are two very talented players. Please, please teach and motivate them to play effective defense!
We tried to pay Peter in Ripple. He wanted Bitcoin“The Newhouse school is more than just the nations leading communication school”

The key here is maintaining our NIL. If this is a one time “booster shot”, we’ll be back in the same boat.
For sure. And that’s gonna be a problem for a lot of schools. How many years can all this money be maintained.
Regarding the bold point… Freeman got 8 rebounds a game on an injured foot. That would have led the team in rebounding many years. He also had a 31.2% defensive rebounds percentage, far and away the best on the team. He had double doubles in 6 of his 14 games.Based on what I’ve heard about White, if he can play defense, rebound and bring us a presence maybe similar to what Roberson brought, I think we might see a lot of of Freeman at the three. given my choice, I would spend a big on a point guard and center and a back up three that’s good enough to push for start of minutes
but if our NIL is going to be what people say it is, now our second or third best player will make more than NBA minimum, and 1/2 our team will make more than an NBA 2 way players.
let that sink in.
I think we’re also looking at this wrong. There is no 3 or 4 or at least there shouldn’t be in the position less basketball red is trying to play. It’s just forwards in today’s modern basketball. Think Donnie, Saddiq and whoever the portal we bring in will basically be the forward rotation with Peter getting a few mins here or there depending on his play/matchupRegarding the bold point… Freeman got 8 rebounds a game on an injured foot. I would suggest you aren’t looking at all the facts when you made this opinion.
I honestly feel thats his easiest thing he can fix.JJ needs to be the 3rd or 4th option as primary ball handler at best.
I think we really need defensive center with dome offense. 8-10 points game 7-10 reb with 4 blcks and i would be super excited. actually a hristmas would be perfect but thatbwould cost a fortune.I think we will see Donnie at 3. White at 4 with a big.
Amen. And I would go one step further and replace the word "forward" from your post above with the term skill sets. We are too hung up on whether player X can play the 2, 3, or 4 on offense. Instead, the emphasis should be on what player X does well and how that meshes with the skill sets of the other 4 players on the court. It does matter more on D.I think we’re also looking at this wrong. There is no 3 or 4 or at least there shouldn’t be in the position less basketball red is trying to play. There were multiple reasons we were terrible on defense.Correct, you need to get players that complement each other, not based on position. You can't have all your players like to score from the free-throw line and in. You need players to score from all 3 levels.
On defense, we didn't have great on-ball defenders, and we compounded that mistake by not bringing in a rim protector at center. The pieces didn't fit, and our defense was terrible.
I'm sure it happened but I can't think of a single time an SU player fought over a pick last season. It almost looked like they were told not to and they didn't even consider it. .There were multiple reasons we were terrible on defense.
I agree we need a rim protector. Even more glaring, we need to be light years better at defending the pick and roll, on-ball screens, and help rotations. Those things are as much, or more, about coaching and accountability as individual player skill. Staying in front of your man is as basic as it gets in M2M. There is no excuse for not being at least decent at this phase.
Yes they always go under screensI'm sure it happened but I can't think of a single time an SU player fought over a pick last season. It almost looked like they were told not to and they didn't even consider it. .
