With absolutely no inside knowledge, I would guess he will get offered about as much money as anyone in CBB if he decides to leave. There should be no "if" in that statement about getting money to leave. The "if" is whether we can/will match other schools' likely offers and if he wants to be on a team that is more likely to be in contention for a championship. He can like Syracuse and the staff and those other factors can still be in play. They are not mutually exclusive.

I think it is absurd that he will command as much money as anybody utterly absurd. Do you think he will have an impact as high as Kadary Richmond? I do not believe at his peak. His impact was any where near as high as even Malik Brown. Just my opinion as well if he leaves, I would have absolutely no respect for him. None. Also, I think 3/4 of this talk concerning him leaving alone is Absolute conjuncture.

I think another layer to add to the discussion is how often it seems like the coaching staff is misreading recruiting situations over the past few years (haha honestly may go all the way back to Quade Green). A recruit visits, the report from staff to insiders is full confidence, visit went amazing, silent verbal/commitment, they’re basically coming AND… we aren’t even in the recruit top 5. I firmly believe the staff really believes they ARE in the running/in a good place… that disconnect from reality is maybe the most disconcerting part of all

And look what happens to the player literally 97% of the time. The odds are stacked to begin with they end up transferring multiple times and do they even end up with a degree or life skills. I believe the Malik Brown situation is utterly and completely different if you have an opportunity Academically and athletically like that, it is very difficult to pass up almost foolish, especially if a plan was not in place that is not the case in a huge percentage of times. Red and this university most importantly must have a plan in place to compete with NIL, and life reality skills, academic opportunities. I am hoping that players will have very limited transfer ability. It is literally going to ruin college sports and eventually the money is going to decrease in both basketball and football. I would say rather quickly because fan bases across 75% of the schools will erode especially and almost always regionally. This will eventually affect sponsorship and certainly the biggest cash cow professional sports I for one will be extremely happy. Just like the degradation of a fabric that was once viewed as good and strong, certainly not perfect but still good. It became damaged and lost its integrity and eroded because it was not protected.

That's exactly what I was referring to with my comment. I don't doubt at all what Bulldog is telling us. I do have doubts about the coaches feel for where things really stand with players based on the history you refer to.

If that is true and he is setting the top end of the market next year, I’d prefer that we passed on him and got better defensive player.

That's actually what I am hoping and that he and his camp were working with Kline to get what he needed for NIL next year sorted now, otherwise he was gonna test the portal waters end of next month... Or something along those lines.

I.e. the delay on the announcement is a good thing because we were negotiating to keep him here.

Not absurd at all. He was a top 10 recruit. He is 6'10" and averaged 16 and 8 in his first fourteen games of college, and he can hit threes. He would absolutely be towards the top of the transfer portal.

Im convinced that the only people hyping the stars are media outlets that are not getting paid by being right. They’re just trying to create a market that really doesn’t mean anything to get paid by clicks.

They’re just crappier versions of Joe Lunardi and just as inaccurate.

Sooner we treat these paid athletes like stocks the better off we’ll be. All that matters is what you paid and what the return was. If there’s no return cut your losses.
