Dan Hurley is known for having superstitions so maybe when Donnie uncrusted his uncrustable was the moment when Hurley realized that Donnie is a perfect fit for UConn. I was watching a video of his wife the other day telling a story that she had to leave the Final Four this year to go back the hotel because Dan forgot his lucky bracelet he's been wearing at games for over 20 years and she even missed part of the game because of it.

This is sort of where I am at too. I am tired of watching players who's main objective seems to be looking cool with their shirt untucked and not breaking a sweat. I want guys who love to play, not just who love to score.

It doesn't make much sense for Donnie and Sadiq to coexist on the same roster. Especially not now when we aren't a 2-3 zone only squad anymore. Sadiq is probably more willing at the moment to buy into Gerry style and is a better overall culture fit, even if Donnie has the higher ceiling for production (stats) and the NBA. Also, I just think a new environment completely for Donnie is needed. Donnie and JJ were supposed to help establish Autry as the long term guy here at Syracuse, we all knew what happened instead. Donnie needs an established tough nosed coach and Hurley fits that profile, Oats somewhat does as well. I always thought Pitino would be a great coach for him if he was wanted there as well.

agree completely. I'm curious to see how he does there or anywhere else with better coaching. He's a great kid -- I can't root for him at UConn but I will be curious.

But I bet he'd actualize whatever professional potential he has there, compared to not being properly coached / pushed under the last staff. On a team where PT is tied to hustle, rebounding, and playing hardnosed defense, he'd either step up or sit.
