Can people stop repeating this trope? Many of us disagree with this ridiculous assertion. Of course they are.

Shouldn’t rivals play each other on a regular basis?

Assuming we don’t play them this year …. It’ll have been 8 years since we last played each other.

We haven’t been on the same level as them program-wise the past 5 years. Not even close.

It was a great rivalry for 30 years. But I don’t think it’s relevant anymore….a lot of rivalries have lost their luster tho, not just that one

I can guarantee you the huskies no longer think of us as rivals. A one-sided rivalry is not a rivalry. Our "rivals" now are only BC and Pitt based on the number of prior games and the fact that we now play them every year and that we all generally field mediocre teams, with exceptions every few years.

Yeah, that's what I think. We're not rivals anymore. We're not in the same league, we never play each other.

That said, if we did play at Storrs or Hartford or MSG or obviously the Dome, both fanbases would be jacked up for the game. There's still history and bad blood. No matter how much more success they've had than us in recent years.

But rivals no more.

I don't think people doubt he COULD be a player with the right coaching. I think people doubt he would accept the coaching. He clearly has all the talent. Is he willing to get dirty and do the hard stuff? Maybe for a different staff.

If true, that says more about us/the coaching staff than it does Donnie. In fact, I’d give Do nice credit because that would be a strong sign he is ready to be coached hard and get better.

Hurley in a recent interview said his recruiting philosophy is to go after offensive skilled players. He no longer goes after the defensive guys. He wants scoring. I imagine he believes he can coach them and get them to buy into playing tough defense.

Maybe? It was a interview with him and Geno Auriemma and they both basically said the same thing. They now recruit offense and scoring.

They have surpassed as a program several times over. We are not even the equivalent of a pimple on their butt. And UConn was the laughing stock during the early Big East years when SYR was a power. Times have sure changed.

Hard to argue with it. Hurley has been pretty damn successful and I can't stand him. I can see the appeal for wanting to bring in a talented player like Donnie.

Which is why they and it appears we as well aim for balance. Culture an effort guys that set the tone with walking buckets that work well with the other pieces.

I don't want to mess up the Jalen Carey thread with this stuff, and I feel like it needs to be shared. Now some will say we aren't rivals with them anymore, and that's fair. But to that I say we have a Rutgers Dumpster Thread that's like a billion pages.

He just did a Instagram live video and started to get annoyed with Syracuse fans who kept asking how is visit went and then someone asked about playing with Tyus Battle and he abruptly ended the video.


Also stated he won't be committing anytime soon.
