Exactly. Similar lines of “Chris Bell can play at the next level” talk. Off-season/early season talk for us seems to be always less that accurate shall we say.let's be honest, a person can do a search through the threads on here and see some posts from people connected to the staff and fanning the flames of some of those expectations.
So, so similar to Chris McCullough: 5-star, physique, game, injury. Chris played 16 games, Donnie 14 - quite unfortunate.
I’ll say this, maybe it was me, it always seemed like Donnie had a weird walk and gallop during games. I know him injuring his foot was something else, but I know some of you had to see it. Wonder if it was a build up to the injury. Never seemed right even from the first game. I didn’t see it in practices though, just games. Almost no one on this team plays good D. Which makes me think it’s partly on the players, but also partly on the coaching. And I lean towards putting more blame on the latter.yeah but that takes dedication. A lot of his issues are lack of trying on defense. He does really good on o so i know he is capable but being lazy on defense doesnt look good for his at all. If i wanna be a one and done then i am hustling my butt doing everything full speed. His lack of ambition hurts him. If he played at Duke he wouldnt play much not cause he isnt good enough. Its effort and thats all and when he sees that he will be an animal. Has all the talent.
Yup. I believe it was the second or third game of the year when I noticed it.I’ll say this, maybe it was me, it always seemed like Donnie had a weird walk and gallop during games. People mentioned it during the game threads. That he had a hitch/limp in his gait. I always assumed that was related to his injury but maybe that wasn’t true.I’ll say this, maybe it was me, it always seemed like Donnie had a weird walk and gallop during games. As Chris Carlson and Brent Axe said on their show last week, it’s about development. Players need to play to get better. And the only way he’s going to get drafted is to keep improving. You’re not going to get better sitting on the sideline. You don’t want your skills to atrophy. If he’s cleared to play and there’s no risk of injury, he should play.I seriously doubt he plays again this year. Why would he? What does he gain? If he isnt practicing if he is still 100% in the boot he comes back for what 6 games at best. If he does come back is it to prove to another college or the NBA that he is good to go so he can get the best bag?
Or Door #3.Looks like he's headed for the draft or the portal.

i believe one post said if Freeman averaged 10 pts and 5 boards, we wouldn’t miss Brown a bitlet's be honest, a person can do a search through the threads on here and see some posts from people connected to the staff and fanning the flames of some of those expectations.

maliq has been sitting with a knee sprain. how bad do you think he wants to play WED ?i believe one post said if Freeman averaged 10 pts and 5 boards, we wouldn’t miss Brown a bit
he's done, day-to-day has gone to season ending. If anybody follows the Yankees, it sounds like one of Aaron Boone's injury reports. Boone and Autry, in this instance, are better off using "indefinite" from the start with injuries. As Chris Carlson and Brent Axe said on their show last week, it’s about development. Would love to have Donnie and Sadiq here next year. Get all the talent you can and let the pieces fall where they may.
Have you heard anything, if you can speak to it (if not, no worries at all), how they would co-exist on the floor together? I can't imagine Donnie or Sadiq want to play the five so would Donnie bump up to the three?
And it’s buffoons like you why we don’t like sharing 95 pct of the info we actually know. God forbid the people that are close to the program and actually attend practice are positive from what they saw. How dare we!Lol people are still buying the “insider” BS on this board after the last few seasons? Preseason Top 10! Here we go!
He played 16 minutes in the UNC game two days ago. I’d assume we’ll see him tomorrow night.maliq has been sitting with a knee sprain. how bad do you think he wants to play WED ?
He also went from a projected Top 20 pick to undrafted? I know he has trust in Red and Straughn but you have to wonder if his camp or him will see it differently after expecting to be a 1st round pickCuse will have money to compete even if they do. Donnie got 150k from cuse this year. He had offers that were double and triple that. His injury is not helping his draft stock or his transfer stock either… And he knows how much the roster next year will suit his game
Please, that is not accurate. They get pulled if they get repeatedly torched on defense or are responsible for sloppy turnovers. Part of the learning curve. Most Freshman have one. If a kid isn't mentally tough enough to learn from it and improve, get hungrier from siting on the pine he better take advantage of the free education he is getting because he will never get to the NBA.Well, the random playing and then freezing out of players, and the lack of any sort of consistency in his rotations is a major problem for the players. It's no wonder they would be looking to leave.
I cant disagree with thatAlmost no one on this team plays good D. Which makes me think it’s partly on the players, but also partly on the coaching. And I lean towards putting more blame on the latter.
If we had a staff that stressed D, and could teach it well, I have little doubt that Freeman would be better.
Who said undrafted ? I’m saying it didn’t help that he’s not playing. If he was playing every game and continuing to improve, it would be helping his stock. Also, people don’t seem to realize the difference in money between being drafted 12th and 26th nowadays. Thats where the extra year can truly help a guy like DFHe also went from a projected Top 20 pick to undrafted?
