Not to speak for Phil, but there's been a strong undercurrent here of "woe is us!" when it comes to NIL. In fact that seems to be the #1 excuse from some quarters as to why this season is a mess.

Unless someone has tangible evidence that our NIL is set to double this offseason, I don't think it's unreasonable to doubt that we're going to add 3 high-level portal pieces.

And by high-level I don't mean going back to fish in the CAA waters.

That lineup has lots of issues

I agree but if Fennell can play - its a line up that is better than this year's. Assuming Pete comes along, Anthony can play at all, and we get a big who can protect the rim...not good but better...I think.

We'll see. I honestly can't remember the last time the consensus on this board wasn't that next year's lineup will be better than the current years.

I don’t know how we can be okay with JJ as our starting shooting guard for the 3rd year in a row. Seems crazy to me. I mean doesn’t a shooting guard have to be able to actually shoot?

Our problem is we always have too many "ifs". If Bennys is good. If Copeland matures. If Bell finds a complete game. If Freeman is the next Melo. If a oversees point guard comes to America and is ready day 1. And IF Petar comes along If Freeman comes back If our other two freshman are ready to play If we get a top flight center If we actually get Melo money.

We always pile all these IFs up and when the IFs don't happen then they just lead to excuses.

Depending on who the center is spacing might be a problem with that lineup. I thought about that lineup too but decided Anthony gives you more shooting. White brings the energy so he seems perfect to come off the bench. Fennel is clearly the key. Can he be close to the Illinois PG from Europe?

If Donnie leaves than we can bring a scoring 3 in from the portal and we might actually have a better team. My lineup is based on retaining Donnie and finding a place for him Sad on the floor together.

Would be great to get a center who can stretch the floor. Was really impressed with Reynaud from Stanford who in most other years would be ACC POY.

For a guy like this it would cost you at least $2 million.

I haven't watched Sadiq in a while, but last time I saw he's very athletic but has raw skills. He's a dunker at this point. Sadiq at SF means we need to kill it with shooters in the other positions. Donnie staying is the #1 priority in my mind, but if they both start we're already shaping up to be not a good 3-point shooting team.

i'd rather watch sadiq attacking the rim and missing dunks than bell missing treys.

I like JJ a lot but his strengths just don’t fit how our roster is built; his weaknesses are amplified if anything. I know Red is loyal to him and JJ is loyal to Cuse so Im sure if he stayed in college he’d stay at Cuse. Honestly he’d be a great 6th man on a championship level team if he portaled. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up at a place like Auburn or Houston and all of sudden his defense is good.

The lack of outside shooting is killing this roster and when your SG is the biggest culprit of that - it’s tough

I've read a few people say something to that effect, and it's ridiculous IMHO.

Getting an 11 seed means we made huge strides from the smoldering dumpster fire we're in right now.

And if Autry has a 5 year deal as been suggested then he certainly ain't getting more years after #3.
