Donnie said Betsey will surprise

I see Kyle as a 18-24 minute type. I think that’s the spot that allows you to get White Anthony or Betsy a few extra minutes. I actually hope Freeman plays the five with the second unit. He is not a liability defensively against backup centers, and on offense, oh boy would he eat.
We have a guy named White Anthony?

I've heard of a White Mike before, but never a White Anthony.

For the uninitiated, a White Mike is the white guy in a friend group predominantly made up of black males, often actually named Mike, generally with hobbies and interests stereotypically ascribed to black men, that the black women in the male group's counterpart female friend group may find attractive and date. For a very literal example of a "White Mike" see the character White Mike from The Wayans Bros. TV show circa the late 1990s. For a darker interpretation of the White Mike stock character, see The Wire.

I hope we have a good year but Cuse basketball has been all great vibes preseason the past 8 or so years with horrible results for the most part

In fairness if you cut to the bone a bit more… year 1 of Red lost plenty of mojo with no Jessie even if there was optimism in the name of change. Year 2 was a whole lot of nervous hope with a long list of things that had to go a certain way. This year is coaching speculation with a boatload of talent and very little question that this team has personnel to be good and it’s hard to question that fact.

I am reserving all predictions (minus the iggy thread I guess) until I see a week of play. It appears we got some good transfers. The only thing I know, is our best player is Donnie Freeman and I expect close to 20/10 in 35+ minutes and it’s imperative he stays healthy.

Enough with the 1 possession wins against Lemoyne, Youngstown St, Colgate.

I’ll believe it when I see it, I guess is my point.

I think this is all of us on the prediction front for sure. As for the optimism and looking at things on paper before they materialize it’s definitely fair to say this year looks nothing like what either of the first two years under red looked like. In fact you have to back a decade ish to see a team top to bottom that matches up on paper.

Thus if we avoid injury and things still go sideways that is hands down 95 pct likely to be about coaching.

I don’t think anyone will play much more than 30 minutes a game. Too many interchangeable parts. Red wants to really push the pace and play aggressive on defense. This team has exceptionally long wing spans that should result in more deflections and open court possibilities. I think George will end up playing the most minutes. The bench is too solid to not get playing time.

Between Donnie, White and Betsy I think we have a nice group of long and athletic forwards that can play both forward spots. We can also go small with Kingz or Kiyan playing the 3. Could see some interesting lineups. Lots of interchangeable pieces between the 2, 3 and 4 slots, with the 3 being the flex piece.
I think we start with Kyle, Freeman, Kingz, Starling and George.

A lot of ways you can go with your first substitutions after that. Betsey in for Kyle if you want more shooting against a small team, even Anthony for Kyle to go really small but with five shooters.

Even that lineup would be 6'9, 6'6, 6'5, 6'4, and 6'3, so not exactly tiny.

The team is stacked.

I think time will tell if Tyler Betsy can be more than a spot up 3 point threat. I really hope so, but I suspect that a lack of quickness is what separates him from the most effective players. Aside from losing his shooting stroke, I think it is what has plagued Justin Taylor’s college career.

Tyler looks to have the body type and size to be very effective, is he explosive enough to be a major contributor?

This guy, Frog, should have been named White Mike

Thanks, bro. Eye absolutely stinks today. Maybe I've got a case of stink eye haha.
Not sure if it's the rain but some days feel like a permanent eyelash in me. Still haven't done the surgery as it will cause a cataract so holding out but still can see!
Hang in there!!!

Betsey was a really impressive pickup. To get a kid like him to come in when it’s most likely a bench role is unexpected honestly given the pedigree and potential.
The Betsey commitment is the one that pushed my enthusiasm for this past offseason from happy to ecstatic.

It was a very true measure of how big the NIL and recruiting turnaround was.

Of the transfers, Betsey committed to Syracuse last, after our roster already had Freeman, Kingz, White, Kyle, Souare and even Anthony and Fennell as guys who could be competition for Betsey in earning minutes.

Guys don't transfer to peer programs for that situation unless they love the Coach and/or the money is really good. And yet, here Betsey resides!

Betsey gives the team higher upside and deeper depth. We still look good without him, but if Betsey becomes a 40% 3pt shooter who can come in at both forward positions and play strong defense, the teams ceiling is very high.

I think George plays more than 30. Maybe if we blow out some cupcakes, his season average will be lower, but I think he's the one player with a skillset nobody else in the team can duplicate.

In close games, only foul trouble or an injury are going to put George on the bench. Or did you want true freshman Fennell, below average mid major Zephir or non point guard Starling playing those minutes?

I would be very surprised if George averaged less than 35 minutes against P4 teams this season.

If he plays less, that means things have gone very wrong or very right.
